The National Treasurer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Kwabena Abankwah Yeboah has commended the Ghana Police Service for maintaining peace at the police headquarters yesterday (Monday).
On Monday, 4th March, 2019 supporters of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) flooded the Police Headquarters as the party’s National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo honored the invitation of the Criminal Investigations Department of Ghana Police Service to answer questions relating to alleged unsavoury comments he made in a leaked audio recording during an NDC meeting.
The contents of the leaked tape however enjoined the decision of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to obtain a court warrant for the arrest of the NDC Chairman.
The NDC supporters including the bigwigs therefore decided that “we are going there with our bare fingers to give moral support to our National Chairman", in their numbers; thus the supporters led by their leaders decided to chant songs in the premises of the Police Headquarters, but the police managed to control the crowd and their misbehavior.
Commenting on the conduct of the Ghana Police Service on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, Mr. Abankwa said he was overwhelmed by the level of tolerance of Ghana Police in controlling the noisy NDC youth and for comporting themselves through out the process.
He again applauded the Inspector General of Police, Mr. David Asante Apeatu for a good work done on Monday.
According to him, he has now gained some special respect for Ghana Police, saying the level of discipline in the police has gone high.
“If it has been the old police we knew . . . they would have unleashed beatings and tear gas on them," he stressed.
He therefore called on Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo to accept his mistake and apologize to the nation rather than politicizing it.

We don't need any apology but the law of the land should work! a snake changing its skin doesn't mean its teeth has been taking out. Apology doesnt solve any problem but when the law is explained in matters like that then we know how cautious one should be. The thinking that you go to bed with is the dream that comes out of it. Ndc has bad intentions against Ghana so no apology will wipe off their evil thoughts, they have no remorse for their evil thinking and Ghanaians will also teach them a lesson in 2020 and thereafter! ndc is fake, ndc is not a political party!
