The General Secretary for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has refused to accept the excuse of the Electoral Commission that the inclusion of the new voters register in its Communique as among the main issues discussed at their recent Inter Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting was a mistake.
According to him, what the EC did was "either deliberate or an act of incompetence".
Speaking in an interview with sit-in host of Okay FM's 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, Akosua Agoe Aboagye, he bemoaned about the consistent mistakes by the EC; recounting on a previous IPAC meeting whereby the EC also begged the opposition party for not inviting them to take part of the referendum on the creation of six new regions.
He however reminded the Electoral Commission to see itself as the referee for all the political parties, urging the Commission to be fair and mindful of its words and works.
“ . . it is unfortunate that the Electoral Commission keeps making mistakes instead of them proving a point to make a good impression about themselves, about their competence, and other things have resulted in this disastrous move.”
“ . . if that is so why didn’t they mistakenly drink poison and call it a mistake . . . they know what they were doing because it was deliberate and are fond of doing that," he said.
He therefore advised the EC to be humble and learn from its predecessors if it is facing challenges.
Mr. Asiedu Nketia added that the NDC therefore "disassociates itself" from the communique and demands it's withdrawal as it is not in consonance with conclusions of the IPAC meeting.

FROM HANSARD OF IPAC MEETING NEW VOTERS REGISTER WAS MENTIONED BY EC, AS REVEALED BY KWAKU BARKO . AT LEAST, ONE PERSON ASKED A QUESTION ABOUT IT FOR EC TO CLARIFIED. IF NO OBJECTION WAS RAISED WHERE COMES THE CLAIM THAT IT WAS NOT DISCUSSED AT THE MEETING. DO WE NEED TO ARGUE ABOUT EVERY ITEM AT MEETING TO BECOME ACCEPTED WHEN THE MATTER IS OBVIOUS AND CLEAR. WHY WASTE TIME ON ISSUES WHICH REQUIRE NO DEBATE? TIME IS MONEY AND WE MUST LEARN TO CHERISH IT AT MEETINGS. SHAME TO ELVIS AFRIYIE ANKRAH FOR THE MISINFORMATION TO HIS PARTY AND GHANAIANS.
The EC has no obligation with any political party to inform them when they want to change the old register for new, the constitution give them the power to do that without any consultation with anyone so ndc go to HELL for it will not change anything, your rantings and opposition are nothing new to Ghanaians, you've never accepted anything concerning our country without a fight but Ghana will never go ndc way so you can opt out of the elections if you are bold and brave! in 1992 NPP opted out of the parliamentary elections but business went on NPP never complained because they are men and women of substance for the 4 years they stayed away they worked and never went hungry ,ndc just 2 years in opposition look at them so desperate and confused even with over a million votes in deficit they certain of coming back not even taking the trouble to see if it's possible, not even taking the trouble to see where they went wrong and why the people rejected them because they thought if Charlotte Osei was around it will be koko ooh they thought they got the people because their other constituency in the ECOWAS have their names and will come to vote for them and when all their hopes have been dashed they are found wanting and screaming and roaring like a hungry lion ! Nothing will work good for you, their next strategy is going to be the ID to be used to register because they know they lost this fight already! so they are back to the table for their next strategy! all ndc think is winning elections not policies for today and the next generation such a use*less opposition !2020 ndc 30% and that's a favour!
