The Electoral Commission of Ghana has warned various political parties to desist from physically restraining people from registering in the ongoing limited registration exercise.
According to them, no political party has the power to do so as it is against the law.
Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, spokesperson for the Electoral Commission, Madam Sylvia Annor explained that the agents of the political parties can pick up concern forms at the registration centres if they have doubts about the ages of those registering.
We are monitoring events and we will soon come out with a comprehensive report about the registration exercise.
"But so far the exercise has been good and we are monitoring events," she added.
The Electoral Commission (EC) is confident its 21-day timeline for the limited voters’ registration exercise will capture all unregistered prospective voters despite initial hitches.
Some centres recorded network challenges that stalled the process and sparked some confusion.
At the Tamale metro EC office, for example, there were arguments when it was suggested that manual registration be adopted following network challenges at the district centre.

I THINK MORE THAN ONE REGISTRATION CENTRES NEEDED FOR THIS EXERCISE, MORE ESPECIALLY IN CITIES LIKE TAKORADI, CAPE COAST, ETC, ETC. IT IS VERY APPALLING TO SEE PEOPLE IN A LONG AND MEANDERING QUEUE IN THE SCORCHING SUN STRUGGLING TO GET REGISTERED.....IS IT AN OFFENCE TO REGISTER AS A VOTER ???
