The Bono Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party [NPP], Kwame Baffoe popularly known as Abronye DC has emphatically said voting against the proposed amendment of Article 55 (3) of the 1992 Constitution which will make local government elections partisan qualifies one to be an ‘animal’.
His comment comes after the opposition National Democratic Congress [NDC] urged its supporters to vote 'No' in the December referendum.
The referendum has become necessary because Article 55 is an entrenched provision of the Constitution and therefore can only be amended through a referendum.
Voting for the proposed amendment has been scheduled for December 17, but the NDC is against it.
At a press conference Tuesday, NDC’s Chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo said the local government system should remain non-partisan and that individuals should contest the District Assembly and Unit Committee elections on their own merit.
“We, therefore, decided to campaign for a 'NO' vote at the referendum and to urge all Ghanaians to vote 'NO' at the referendum,” he declared
Speaking on NEAT FM’s morning show 'Ghana Montie' Friday, November 15, 2019, Abronye DC who was unhappy with the opposition’s stance linked the ‘YES' and 'NO’ referendum voting to human and animals.
“In this referendum election the ‘Yes’ stands for human and ‘No’ stands for goat. So it’s up to Ghanaians to decide,” he told host Mac Jerry Osei Agyeman.

divergent view and intolerance from a party. Time will define this guy
I decided not to vote but because i prefer to be a goat than human on this issue, come 17.12. massa big NO.
thanks to politics perhaps people like abronye or whatevr they call it will never come Accra. Just keep sounding the way yo have been doing forever. time till tell
Your language was too strong for us. Why would you use a goat to describe what is supposed to be an education. Abronye or what ever they call you,you are such an irritating being so watch you words.
ABRONYE YOU VOTE YES AND AFTER MANY DAYS YOU WILL REALISE THE BIG MISTAKE YOU DID. VOTE A BIG NO TO SAVE THIS COUNTRY OF DIRTY POLITICS
is this guy correct?
Nice goat, but that is not good language. We must grow above this. Divergent views is the essence of democracy. It doesn't make one an ***barred word***. This language smacked of high intolerance. Nobody would be in power forever, Today in power, tomorrow in opposition. Let's always remind ourselves to be civil.
I will vote NO, this is because I suspect the political parties are seeking to be more powerful. They determine who make up the Executive and Legislature, now they want to decide who should steer the affairs of our local governments. NO WAY! PIGS will vote YES!
