The separatist group that declared independence for Western Togoland is heading for the United Nations to demand recognition.
Over the weekend the Homeland Study Group Foundation declared independence for the Volta, and parts of the Northern, North Eastern and Upper East Regions after its meeting held in Ho.
HSGF had over the years been demanding the secession of the above-mentioned areas from Ghana to become the Western Togoland state.
In May 2019, some members of the group were arrested by the police and charged with conspiracy to commit treason felony, abetment of unlawful training, unlawful assembly and offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace.
Speaking to Starr News Spokesperson for HSGF George Nyakpo said the Western Togoland has never been part of Ghana and has not been a British colony hence there was no basis to add it to its colony Gold Coast.
He added that the ‘Western Togoland State’ will notify the United Nations of their independence and seek recognition and will require a lot of support from the world body to succeed.

How there you determine for the good people of Bimbilla? Nonses! If you dont want to be part of Ghana, find yourseles a place in the sea. If this was elsewhere in the world, your generation would have suffered excommunication.
@DUSE Robert ,INFACT YOU ARE A PYCHOPATHIC AND SUFFERING FROM SCHZEOPHRENIA .HOW CAN YOU BE WRITING THESE RUBBISH? WE ARE ONE PEOPLE AS GHANAIANS, NO NEED FOR SEPERATION.
Who told these people that part of the Upper East Region wants to be part of their Western Togoland? They should fight for their independence for the Volta Region and leave the other regions alone. Koseiaaa fouuull
These current government have entertained these group for far too long? since their leaders were arrested they have not been any strong prosecution against them that is why they are doing that.
Stop this tribalism thing my brother if Volta region your so called western togoland is neglected for too long blame your own eve man JJ Rawlings he rule Ghana for nineteen years ... STUPIDD MOVE THAT WILL NOT YIELD ANYTHING OR ANY FRUITFUL DEVI DIVIDENT .. DON,T WAIST YOUR TIME .. AGYIMIFOOO
WAIST EFFORT AND TIME, THIS IS NOT GOING TO WORK MY PEOPLE ..
@Asare has shown maturity. I do not know where this division will take us to. On the other hand, Duse Robert has also got a point. How to put forward that point is also very essential in our discourse. It is a fact that the Volta region is always neglected under all governments. Rawlings took advantage of the votes and every time, just go to lie to the people and after voting, noting is done. Kuffour was worse meanwhile one of his key advisors, Amametekpor hails from the region but he was not effective as he was a lone wolf among others. Mills came in and concentrated on the North. Volta chiefs matched to Mahama to complain about the lack of development in the Volta region and he did not even bother ti pay a visit there until election time. I visited Ho on business and was shocked at the state of their roads and that is the capital. A good thing is that the Polytechnic was upgraded. Keta is worse as it has not seen any development for a very long time. Kuffour made a show of building the sea defences but it was just for a short while and as he saw some political goodwill was obtained and the donors saw something, he immediately stopped and the Voltarians know where the machines were taken to. i am not implying that everywhere is highly developed but the Volta region is the least developed in thew country. These are things that the communities in the region can see. I do not support separatism because it just brings instability for a long stretch of time and it hardly benefits the general population apart from a few who have special interest. Boundary issues and resource sharing creates a mess which generations are not able to repair. There are no winners but only losers. A key issue is that our lives are now so inter linked that it will not be right to separate the population and lands. There is inter marriage all over the place and our secondary school are a mix of people coming from different places. Just look at the national science and math competition for instance. i believe cool head should be used in this situation.
what currency are these 'distractors' using now? We have kept quiet and allowed them to be making noise all over the place. Immediately they are arrested we have people who think their thinking caps are the only ones created by God jumping to their defense like some some'called lawyers who are hardly seen in court but come out when there is something sensational.
If your have your case, it is not about Ashanti. I am a proud Ashanti and continue to be so.You are talking of roads. When NDC was blowing their horn that they had constructed roads in their green book what did you say, shame. You can go to UN, don't get on our nerves.
It's long overdue go we don't want u to be of Ghana koraaa it was Kwame Nkrumah who attached u to Ghana tweeeaaaa we don't lose anything if u Go. apuuut))
