When it comes to formulating good policies for governing Ghana, former President Mahama lacks that skill, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party has said.
Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, in an interview with Peacefmonline.com noted that former President Mahama has invested most of his time buying sunglasses than sat down to even write "average policies".
"John Mahama has bought more sunglasses than written average policies. How can such a man be taken serious when it comes to voting for a president? He cares more about material things than coming out with good policies that can have a great impact on generations and ones to come."
Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi continued that " President Akufo-Addo isn't a man who invest his precious time into buying material things. He is more concerned about formulating good policies with his able men to benefit everyone in Ghana.
We have seen it in the implementation of the free Senior High School policy, the PFJs and RFJs programs. There are several of them which have been accomplished as stated in our manifesto that brought us to power on 2016".
Chairman Wontumi therefore challenged the National Democratic Congress led by former President John Mahama to come out with a single "average policy" that shows that they are ready to be considered an opposition party in Ghana.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has taken a major step towards its agenda to recapture power in the 2020 election with the inauguration of a 21-member election manifesto committee.
Chaired by a former Minister of Health under the Mills-led administration, Professor Kwaku Danso-Boafo, the committee has begun touring all the 16 regions of the country in an attempt to solicit the views and concerns of the ordinary Ghanaian regarding how they would want the party to govern them.
The committee has also started holding discussions with other stakeholders such as labour movements, civil society organisations and important key players in the country’s economy in order to come out with a well-designed manifesto that will focus on alleviating people from poverty and other economic hardships.
Members of the committee were drawn from the various sectors, including academia, health, economy and youth empowerment.
