Former President, John Dramani Mahama is calling on all eligible Ghanaian voters to go out and take part in today’s district level elections.
57,030 candidates are seeking to win seats in either the assemblies or the unit committees across the country.
According to the Electoral Commission (EC), all the materials needed for the elections had been procured in sufficient quantities and dispatched to the various regions and districts.
Meanwhile, voting has already started in most of the polling stations.
The former President in a tweet, said: “District Level Elections has since its inception ensured grassroots participation in the governance of our country. Through the unit committees & representation in the Assemblies, our people have had the opportunity to be directly involved in governance at the local level.
"As we go to the polls across the country to elect new members to the assemblies and unit committees, I wish all aspirants well and encourage all eligible Ghanaians to step out between now and 5.00pm to cast our votes. It’s our civic responsibility," he said in a tweet.
