It is with no doubts that John Mahama and his NDC hate everything good about education and teachers. What wrong have teachers in Ghana done to the NDC?
On 21st September 2016 The Daily Graphic reported that from 2016/2017 academic year, all newly recruited teachers will have to be licensed before they can teach by writing a teacher licensure examination. Was John Mahama not the President of Ghana in 2016? Was the NDC not the party in government? What has changed about the policy to want this unnecessary threat of cancellation?
I expected John Mahama to rather attack Akufo-Addo for not starting the teacher licensure in 2017 instead of 2018. Or better still, praise Akufo-Addo for his commitment to continuing the policy introduced by you, Joh Mahama. But no, you go about threatening to cancel the teacher licensure examination.
Why can’t John Mahama be bold enough to tell Ghanaians it was his administration that introduced the policy and why he thinks it is a bad policy instead of behaving as if this policy is new to him, Akufo-Addo just conjured this policy from heaven in 2019.
Why does Mahama want to destroy a fantastic policy that is targeted at improving quality and professionalism in the teaching profession? Why is John Mahama not interested in cancelling the professional exams for Doctors, Engineers, Accountants, Lawyers, Architects, etc but only that of teachers? Mr Mahama, do you and your NDC hate teachers that much?
Under John Mahama as Vice President and President, Four-Year SHS was cancelled, tax exemptions for teachers’ car scheme cancelled, allowances for teacher trainees cancelled, allowances for nursing trainees cancelled. Why is the NDC interested in cancelling everything that benefits teachers? I am happy how the teacher Unions have been told to come out to express their support for the policy.
Please, Mr. Mahama, we are tired of today I will review this tomorrow I will cancel that. Don’t you have any originality of thought and ideas? Indeed the alternative is empty and scary.

Teaching as a profession needs to be regulated.I don't think anybody can just get up one day and go to a hospital to work as a nurse. The basic reason is that, they are all licensed to do so. If we really wants our children to do well, this licensure exams must be supported. Not everyone was born to be a teacher. I support the teacher licensure exams
See JM don't listen to anybody OK we strongly support your idea,,,if you remove this nasty exams which is even not standard exams,,and Npp members who are working over there cant get work doing they should go to farm busters,,,, and more over we haven't ask any body to go to America to go and work where by they will be asking of you soo call Nana Addo exams ,,mmmhh if you want to have work start your education from there and leave GH alone OK ,,I am very hungry to vote for JM to come on power and put stop to this ***barred word*** soo call ntc when we were born where were they
Just following blindly. JDM dreams of programmed to be implemented and unfortunately for him that doesn't see the light of the day. Somebody comes to implement it and you are calling for its cancellation. Then Ghana went through hell under his administration. Consistently inconsistent and he wants to come back for which reason? He can't think far for Gzmother Ghana!
They and those who operate its organization may thrive on ignorance and lack of capacity research and rely on truth to keep the populace in their grip. Teachers and education fundamentally irradiate ignorance. They interrogate issues and want the truth and facts. This may explain your observation!
As a professional body the licence is a must requirement. All these things should be depolitized, just as you cannot cancel Ghana Legal Council, Ghana Medical exams, and the likes. Let's get it right Ghana is not isolated from the rest of the world. What is right is right vice-versa.
Please not everything about Ghana should be politicised, if for nothing at all the sitting government introduced a new curriculum in the basic schools and same will be done in the other levels and the core objective is collaborative learning. It's also been said exams should not be the tool to determine the child's capabilities, but it should go with other factors of learning and the teacher now goes through internship training consistently. So therefore I think, this teacher's licensure examination might not determine the capabilities of the teacher and I hope it's not in agreement with the current educational policies by this current government if I may say, so why these insults and polities?
In fact ur a ***barred word*** man for saying that wai
@ ALUTA. In Canada, all teachers take the licensure examinations. That's how come your Canadian physics teacher could be sent overseas to teach> This is simply the current best international practice being championed by UNESCO globally. Please do a Google search and you will find the countries that license teachers before they can teach. When educated people support mediocrity, something must have happened to their learning!
I definitely support this so called tearcher licensure examination cancellation. Something is going wrong somewhere. What kind of examination is that. What happened to the end of course examination? Is that one not enough? Were we born for examination throughout our life? Is even examination the best tool to access and judge someone's ability? They should rather go and add it to the end of course programme examination. Why must someone pay fees before writing that examination? Are they saying that the examination board and lectures responsible for final examinations that are written by teachers not competent? Someone who isn't even a lecturer is sitting somewhere chopping teacher's money for nothing. This is a pure corruption and day light robbery at its highest peak. It should be cancelled with immediate effect. I support JM for this.
Before one becomes a professional, one needs to go through series of training before going to write a test to test one's professional ability. What we need for professional teachers is not the current mode of examination but a vigorous metrological training that will equip the teacher to be up to the task. Currently, the method use in given out license to teachers needs to be looked at.
