Member of Parliament [MP] for Lower Manya Constituency in the Eastern Region, Ebenezer Okletey Tei-Larbi says the Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori–Atta together with the President and the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Ernest Addison intentionally targeted some banks to collapse them for their personal gains.
According to him, he would have used a different approach to get non-performing banks on their toes to perform and generate capital into the Ghanaian economy if he was the President.
Speaking on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ political show, the NDC Communicator stressed that "the current government used a faulty and discriminatory approach claiming to curb the banking problems."
He said the government should have allowed the banks to be in operation as it deals with its CEO’s whose mismanagement have brought the banks into distress.
“ . . if the Governor, Dr Ernest Addison, President Akufo-Addo and the Finance Minister claim their purpose for collapsing non-performing banks was to save customers, then I tell them their approach was the worst ever, because customers of which I am part have not benefited in anyway. My funds have been locked-up since September 2018,” he said.
