The Executive Director of Danquah Institute (DI), Richard Ahiagbah has responded to claims by the National Women’s Organiser of the National Democratic Congress that people in Tamale do not need an interchange.
According to Mr. Ahiagbah, the observation of the NDC National Women’s Organizer is baseless considering the fact that Tamale is one of the fastest-growing cities in the country.
In an interview with Peacefmonline.com, he noted that “with a rapidly growing population, Tamale has become the next business destination for many multinational and Ghanaian companies since most neighboring countries ply the roads in the metropolis”.
The boost in commercial activity, to him, has increased pressure on the city’s infrastructure and also limited space in Tamale, hence the construction of an interchange will ease traffic congestion and open up the city for economic growth.
He stated the argument by Dr. Bissiw is a politically orchestrated idea to downplay the importance of the interchange.
However, Dr. Bissiw in an interview on Radio Tamale before the Inter-Party Resistance against the new biometric voters’ register last Friday, said the GHC 443 million allocated to the Electoral Commission for the compilation of a new biometric register could have been used to rehabilitate the deplorable roads in the Region.
She added that the people are in the dire need of good drinking water, proper educational facilities and a better livelihood.
“I don’t even think that we in Tamale will say we need the interchange. We would say give us good water, give us good schools for our children to attend; give us good livelihood because that’s what we want”, she fumed.

That ***barred word*** dr says what? I have a sick doc she should come and feed them.
Dr. Bissiw paaa!!! If the NDC had constructed the roads in tamale am not sure we would have been where we are now!!!
THE PEOPLE IN THE NDC ARE SHORT SIGHTED. THEY CAN'T SEE AND THINK FAR.
This is the difference between npp and ndc if npp member ad said it uncivilized ndc would have come out to use thst as a political message but npp believe in ideas not tentions, not violence. I understand both of you but npp are not created to divide and rule npp are always busy thinking of how to move Ghana forward ndc has nothing to worry about because they can't think kritically so all try do is find something to bring tension in the country. What Hannah Bissiw said means a lot and if npp is like the ndc they would have carted it on to bring tension to that part of the world she meant they didn't deserve that why? why dies she think Accra, Kumasi and Takoradi deserve it but not Tamale? it shows how she disrespect them she think they inferior who shouldn't get any thing better! npp has read into that and seen the seriousness which could bring disaster so there is no room for a foo00*00l who is a technician but being called a doctor! a doctor who can't speak English!
Yes, where are the visionless IMANI and the likes? By their very standing NGOs are not to be political, but in Ghana what do we see? Actually, the long period of the P(NDC) rule in Ghana has ruined the nation. Most of these NGOs were formed during that period for parochial political purposes and that is what the country is reaping now. How come that almost all the local NGOs are NDC inclined? Is it a coincidence?
if an NPP leading member has said this, we would have have all sorts of E.V.I.L ndc cabals claiming to be NGO this and NGO that demanding apologies and what have you. where are all those so called NGOs, why are they silent. where are the Northerners themselves, why are they quiet? is it because one of their own said it so it is not an insult.
