Seasoned Journalist Kwesi Pratt Jnr has expressed skepticism of the reasons adduced by the country's Electoral Commission necessitating the compilation of a new voters’ register.
The EC among the several reasons given justifying the need for a new voters’ register, also claimed the current electoral roll is bloated.
But the Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper consider the reasons as not tangible enough.
“I still don’t understand this debate surrounding the new voters’ register. The EC claims the voters register is credible and if so why do we need to change it? Then they claim they are adding facial recognition…other views claim the facial recognition is inferior to fingerprints and so on…another reason is that the register is overbloated because it contains list of several deceased persons; but that is not a justifiable reason because people keep dying every time…it’s a bad and infantile argument," Kwesi Pratt, who was speaking on Peace FM morning show 'Kokrokoo' said.
To him, the brouhaha surrounding the voters’ register is as a result of the fact that the EC did not demonstrate neutrality in the process leading up to the announcement of its intention to do away with the current register.
Meanwhile, the EC has set April 18th 2020 for new voter register compilation.

AT THE HEIGHT OF HIS ARROGANCE, KWESI PRATT IS FAILING TO REALISE THAT GHANAIANS ARE NOW WISER THAN THEY WERE IN THE REVOLUTIONARY DAYS. KWESI PRATT AND HIS PAY MASTERS THE NDC CAN REFUSE TO BE CONVINCED BY THE EC BUT THEY SHOULD STOP PREDTENDING TO BE SPEAKING FOR THE MAJORITY OF GHANAIANS. KWESI PRATT HAS LOST ALL THE CREDIBILITY AS BOTH A POLITICIAN AND A JOURNALIST. HIS DAYS ARE GONE AND HE MUST APPRECIATE THAT AND RETIRE PEACEFULLY TO HIS MUSUKU OR ABURI RESIDENCES.
Infantyle Pratt. Shurt up that st3nchy mouth of yours
Pratt, your arguments seem to come from a baby crying for breast milk when the mother is far away. You can't get your od register because a new one will surely be compiled. I will congratulate you and your kind if you declare to boycott the new registration. Otherwise, I consider all of you as cowards, who will die many times before their death.
look at his head
Kwasi, why don't you accept Mahama's running mate position... you are a better candidate... or are you afraid to die like Owusu bempa said? hahahahahah... Kwasi let me tell you, you can make any impact with this lifestyle and attitude... you are not fighting for anyone.. you are fighting for your stomach..
BAYIBOMSAM LIVE GHANA ALONE AND STOP YOUR HATRED. NRR AND NANA ADDO WILL NEVER GIVE YOU KOBO, KWASIATO
EIIISH WOFA KWESI!YOU STILL CARRY THIS DULL & NAIVE HEAD?
Is it that we refused to understand or deliberate politics as usual?
Funny analysis by Mr. Pratt. KSK would have asked him certain questions. Nana Yaw wants to remain “neutral” so certain pertinent questions are never asked. 1) there shall always be dead people on the register but the number of the dead on 2012 register will be more than the dead on 2020 register. 2) of the EC engaged parties other than the NDC and NPP for a stand, those people would only say Yes or No to the new register. There cannot be a middle ground. 3) facial recognition is an added on and doesn’t replace fingerprints. Manual verification can be used to vote for “dead people” on the register.
Mr Pratt, whether you understand or not there is going to be a new register. I don't expect all Ghanaians to agree with the EC.
