President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is very optimistic of winning the December 7, presidential polls despite efforts by his main contender, former President John Dramani Mahama to recapture the seat.
The first gentleman of the land begins his State of the Nation Address by expressing how glad he is to give his 4th SONA.
“The way is being prepared for the renewal of my mandate,” the President said on Thursday, 20 February 2020, whiles delivering address to parliament.
This was after the Minority in Parliament had earlier dramatically boycotted this year’s SONA over what is believed to be in connection with the release of the Common Fund for the Third Quarter.
According to Peace FM’s parliamentary correspondent, Mr Emmanuel Akorli, the Minority staged the walked out moments after the president entered the chamber to give his address.
The SoNA is in accordance with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution, which requires the president to brief parliament about the country’s state of affairs.

THE BOYCOTT OF MINORITY IN PARLIAMENT SHOULD NOT SURPRISE ANYBODY. IT WAS MEANT TO DIVERT ATTENTION FROM THE SHAME OF MAHAMA. IT IS ALL BECAUSE OF THE AIRBUS SCANDAL. MAHAMA IS DISTINCTIVELY SUGGESTED TO BE THE GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL ONE OF THE SCANDAL AND HIS BROTHER AS INTERMEDIARY 5. EVER SINCE THE SCANDAL BROKE OUT MAHAMA HAS FAILED TO DENY IT. SINCE SILENCE MEANS CONSENT MANY BELIEVE STRONGLY THAT MAHAMA IS THE OFFICIAL 1 WHO CONNIVED WITH OTHERS TO STEALL FROM THE STATE OF GHANA. MANY IN GHANA AND OUTSIDE AS WELL AS MEMBERS OF DIPLOMATIC CORPS SHARE SIMILAR VIEW ABOUT MAHAMA. THE SHAME OF THE AIRBUS SCANDAL MADE IT DIFFICULT FOR MAHAMA TO ATTEND SONA AND SIT WITH OTHER FORMER PRESIDENTS. THE DECISION OF MAHAMA NOT TO ATTEND SONA WAS TO CAUSE A TALK IN TOWN. PEOPLE WOULD HAVE ASKED WHY HE DID NOT COME AND SPECULATED. TO DIVERT ATTENTION ON THE ON MAHAMA AND THE AIBUS SCANDAL MATTER. THE NDC MPs WALK OUT ON FLIMSY EXCUSES WAS ONLY MEANT FOR DIVERSION. MAHAMA RECENT ATTACK ON EC SUPPORTED BY NDC AND THEIR BOYCOTT OF SONA ARE ALL MEANT TO DIVERT ATTENTION FROM THE AIRBUS SCANDAL.
Abena since your name is on pay role during NDC time. Today you are saying this government stinck because no salary for ***barred word***.
So this is what we will do for years to come? NPP/NDC on issues? Is it right for MINORITY TO ABANDONED THEIR CONSTITUTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY? And by the way, Has NPP ever walk out during State of the National Address by any President? Even the Walk Out done by NPP and NDC during voting on issues or passing bills does not benefit the country, but that has become a norm, but not during State of The National Address. This is not state of Parliament Address but the entire nation. Do NDC think all gathered there listening do agree with the President? That is not possible to all to agree with the President, but stay to listen and receive that constitutional documents and question and debate for the betterment of country. NDC IS FINISHED IN OPPOISITION
Are you sure about that. Just cast your mind back to when NDC was in power. Your people did more than that but you came to power so be careful. Your governance stinks. It's a pity we all didn't see it coming.
