Social Media is buzzing with revolting comments after the minority in parliament staged a walkout in protest of their unpaid District Assembly Common Fund the moment President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was about to address the state.
This according to many social media users is “total rubbish” and “childish” for the opposition to react in such a move.
“Are we serious as citizens? Lawmakers reacting in this manner as a country with this attitude I don’t think we can really be greater and or better until we change and renew our minds #SOTNGhana.” A Facebook user posted.
Another user said “MPs Common Fund unpaid for few months and so you boycott SONA. Do you know how many months some teachers & others are owed? Childish.”
“Total rubbish, grown up men behaving like kids.” A twitter user twitted.
"See our parliamentarians are playing with our mind...it’s sad 21st century democracy and this is happening #SOTNGhana"
"The attitude of the Minority by boycotting the #SONA2020 is below belt and not encouraged. I do hope that the media punish them by not giving them a chance to debate it on their stations... If they couldn't sit in the chamber to listen, then their opinions don't matter #SOTNGhana"
Minority’s Reason For Boycotting SONA 2020
The members of the minority side earlier expressed frustration about the delay of their share of the Common Fund for the third quarter of 2019, as they say it is delaying the execution of projects in their constituencies.
According to them, the delay is a deliberate attempt to deprive them of working effectively and consequently competing fairly with their opponents, especially when the general election is some months away.

Npp and their uselessssssss attack on ndc when your party npp boycotted similar address in 2013 what was your position those who are making noise answer or de npp party and their supporters think that they are Ghanaians than everybody please ghana is for all of us stop ur uselessssssss attacks and tell your president Mr clearing agent to stop the ***barred word*** that is going on
I counted 4 so called social media post here. The question is are these 4 social media comments why the peacefmonline posted this story? Some section of the Ghanaian media is so crazy, is this a report.
I hope the NDC will not get paid for walking out of parliament yesterday. They have to loose a days pay for not going to work or being absent yesterday.
I am certain that Ghanaians will punish them at the polls for this infantile behavior. 2013 boycott was different, how can you be part of something you're challenging in court. So in 2013 the MPs never showed up in Parliament at all. The NDC is not serious to be trusted with our governance. No wonder our economy get worse whenever they come to power. 1 vote is lost to them.
The NDC should go home and ponder over their sorry state. that's what their attire reflect, they don't speak for Ghana.
IT WAS POLITICAL BLUNDER FOR NDC TO VACATE THEIR SEATS DURING SONA IN THE PRESENCE OF FORMER PRESIDENTS, CHIEF JUSTICE AND SUPERIOR COURT JUDGES, POLICE AND MILITARY TOP HIERARCHY, DIPLOMATIC CORPS, NANANOM, RELIGIOUS LEADERS,THE MEDIA AND REPRESENTATIVES OF VARIOUS GROUPINGS. IT PORTRAY NDC TO ALL THESE PEOPLE GATHERED AS A PARTY OF INDISCIPLINED MPS AND INDIVIDUALS. NDC CAN WALK OUT AT ANY TIME BUT NOT IN THE PRESENCE TO ALL THOSE PEOPLE. THEY HAVE SHOWN THEMSELVES TO ALL AS UNREASONABLEEE, IMATUREEE AND DISRESPECTFULL TO GHNANA AND ALL GATHERED. I DON'T KNOW WHO ADVISES NDC THEY ARE MAKING THEIR PARTY UNPOPULAR TO ALL RIGHT THINKING PEOPLE. NPP WILL NEVER DO THIS. THEY CAN BE ANGRY AS WELL BUT THEY WILL ALWAYS GET ONE WISEMAN TO ADVISE THEM TO AVOID COMMUTING SUCH A BLUNDERR. NONE OF THE DIGNITARIES WHO GATHERED AT PARLIAMENT WILL TAKE NDC SERIOUS. SPIRITUALLY IT IS A BAD OMEN FOR NDC TO VACATE THEIRS SEAT. SMART AS THEY WERE, NPP QUICKLY TOOK OVER THE SEAT. SO NPP OCCUPIED BOTH MAJORITY AND MINORITY SIDES. NDC HAS SPIRITUALLY RELINQUISHED THEIR SEATS TO THE NPP MAJORITY AS WELL. NPP WILL GET MORE OF THEIR SEAT IN THE NEXT ELECTIONS. THIS MEANS EITHER NDC MAY LOOSE MORE SEATS TO NPP OR NDC MAY BOYCOTT THE 2020 ELECTION. WHATERVER THE CASE NPP WILL GET MORE SEAT AFTER 2020 ELECTIONS. AND JUST AS SONA WAS DELIVERED SMOOTHLY AND UNDISTURBED THIS TIME, SO NPP WILL GOVERN AFTER 2020 ELECTIONS SMOOTHLY AND UNDISTURBED, EVEN IF NDC BOYCOTT THE ELECTIONS. ANOTHER BAD OMEN IS THE MISSING OF MAHAMA AT THE SONA. IT MEANS MAHAMA WILL BE INCARCERATED AND DISAPPEAR IN PUBLIC IN SOME DAYS AHEAD. THE EVENTS OF THE SONA CASTS SHADOW FOR THE UNFOLDING POLITICAL DEVELOPMENT IN THE NEAR FUTURE.
@ All of you below, when NPP walked out in 2013 what was your comment then? Hypocrisy everywhere in this country. How can we move forward as a nation with this kind of hypocrisy.
Corrupt NDC made Haruna Iddrisu their leader in parliament, a guy who plagiarised his MPhil Thesis at Legon and had his thesis cancelled. In any serious democracy this guy should never be an MP in the first place. Look at his arrogance posture. NDC will regret their infantile action. I hope they will have the courage to also boycott debating the president's address.
If u choose Haruna Iddrisu as a leader what should u expect?. In a serious society he should not be MP for plagiarism
Did the NDC pay all contractor it engaged before leaving office? What will happen when the Common Fund is paid eventually? Will they call for another SONA? They have missed it big time. The electorates are not going to forgive them. currently social media is awash with condemnation all over the place.Shame, Shame Shame!!!
