Member of Parliament for Juaboso Constituency, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh is blaming the six (6) confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the country on the Akufo-Addo led government.
He accuses the current administration of not being proactive enough to prevent the spread of the deadly COVID-19 in the country.
According to him, when the outbreak first occurred in China and hit other African countries, the World Health Organization (WHO) warned that Ghanaians stand a high risk of contracting the COVID-19 due to the porous borders and the aviation system in the country.
Sadly, he claims, "the ruling government ignored all the promptings."
Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, the Ranking Member on Health Committee in Parliament was of the firm belief that the current situation in the country with six confirmed Coronavirus cases, could have been avoided had the Akufo-Addo led government acted swiftly upon the WHO warnings and concerns expressed by the Minority in Parliament.
“We took things for granted from the onset and some people insulted us when we warned that we must intensify the precaution measures at our borders and the airport by quarantining people who have traveled to countries where the coronavirus has been detected . . . if anybody says that they didn’t know that Coronavirus will come to the country, then they did not follow the warning of the World Health Organization (WHO) . . .
“In the governance system, everybody has a part to play. Ghana belongs to all of us and so even if you are in disagreement with someone politically, but he is making a lot of sense which can be helpful, we should stop the insults and work with the suggestion made by others because of our political differences,” he slammed.
He cautioned that “this coronavirus is no respecter of political colour, President, Journalist, Minister and Member of Parliament as all are vulnerable. All of us should be vigilant with the outbreak of the coronavirus”.
He, therefore, urged every Ghanaian to put their destiny into their own hands by making their lives and that of their families their utmost priority.
“ . . wash your hands with running water and soap frequently and regularly and in the absence of water and soap, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer intermittently. Research has shown that alcohol-based sanitizer is one of the best preventive measures to curtail the spread of the coronavirus,” he advised.
“ . . I am not saying people should go and drink akpeteshie and neither have I said that if you drink akpeteshie, it can cure the coronavirus but if you have akpeteshie even though the alcohol-based hand sanitizer is the best, you can use akpeteshie to wash your hands in the absence of alcohol-based hand sanitizer and then use water to rinse your hands,” he cautioned.

Now that you believe insult is no good, has the NDC stopped the insult? You haven't. I listen to UTV after 10 pm discourse most of the time and I note the insults that you NDC communicators spew all the time on HE the President and other political figures. By this, I am not saying that NPP is not a culprit but because you have realised it, you must lead by example.
IF A DINNING HALL PREFECT IS PROMOTED TO MINISTER, THAT WILL BE HIS RESPONSE BECAUSE HE CANT THINK OUT SIDE THE BOX.WASTING TAX PAYERS MONEY FOR SUCH AN ***barred word***
Instead of u to pray for Ghana, see what rubbish he is saying,u limit every situation into politics why,oh no Nipa nsua nyansa koraa
The pattern of his pronouncement is the same - n0t normal. He has been previously gone mental or is in the process. Let is wait for a couple of months and we assess him again
Is it not this same ***barred word*** who was canvassing that we bring Ghanaians back from China, Italy, etc. etc. Why would the noble men and women in NDC sit and look on while such twiddlers tarnish the image of the party. Papa J, do something!!!!!!
Is this guy serious? Why do elements in NDC always seek to score cheap political points on any issue? How many African governments have been able to take the bold measure of restricting the influx of people from the affected countries? If you guys dont stop such ***barred word*** comments, the NDC will lose all credibility. Enough is enough. If you dont have a sensible contribution to make, please ***barred word***.
The nonnnsense of an honourable. How can Ghana progress with such people as MPs?
Is the NDC shot of quality people in parliament to represent them in the committees? Its obvious, NDC has lost all its credibility. where is PAPA J? Wo partya gba hee! Midu agba
so such a thing too is an MP serving in Ghanaian parliament anyway a uselessss political groupings like NDC will entertain such a thing as MP, full of gyimie anyway his only work experience is dining hall prefect so what do you expec, ah Ghana
Mr MP have you seen the shame and insults people are showering you. You talk too much but it has no relevance so give us your alternatives to curb this menace and stop blaming and hating Nana Addo. What did you and your NDC do to protect your own members before the virus got here. Your leader was on unnecessary roam about agenda and called it speakout tour risking the spread further but you are not satisfied with anything Nana Addo does. Ebola happened during your time and we did not see any pragmatic measures the tnen President Mahama and NDC put in place but now you and Sammy Gyamfi another Bombshell unfairly attacking the government
