Mavis Ama Frimpong, a former Eastern Regional Minister, says President Akufo-Addo by an executive instrument can order the payment of monies to SSNIT contributors to ease the COVID-19-induced hardships.
“Social security contributions are essentially an insurance scheme made not just for pensions in old age before we die. They are also made to help contributors in times of adversities such as this. Not all will come out and queue for food, but as has been done in other countries like St. Lucia, I think a token payment to all contributors of a certain token sum over three months would have afforded many the assurance of feeding their families during this abnormal times,” Ex-prez Mahama is quoted to have said during his recent Digital Broadcast to the public.
But the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), in a statement reacting to the former president's comments, said je is uniformed about their operations. According to them, it will be against the law to do that.
Contributing to a panel discussion on UTV's Critical Issues, Mavis Frimpong said since we're not in normal times, the President by an act of Parliament or an executive instrument direct SSNIT to do as the former President suggested.
"If you do exclusion that is what happens…when he said he needs everybody’s help, I thought he will call on the former president...but I don’t see anything wrong with what the former president is saying; he’s not confusing anybody. I won't agree," she indicated.

I DON'T THINK THIS GUY HAS GOOD ADVISORS. HE ONLY HAS BOOTLICKERS.
When teachers went on strick to demand the Tie 3 from NDC government all NDC communicators were saying that the money is there. Now Nana came into office the teachers started demanding the TEI 3 because NDC did not pay them it was Nana who pay the money to the farnm manager for all SNNIT Contributers .Even when SNNIT check your brother failed to contribute his workers SNNIT contibution over 200 employees .Today you see that more money in the systerm so you are instigating workers to jump on the government to pay their contributn for them contribution. EVIL MAN
Here in UK the opposition leader has chipped in only once apart from the usual questions time in the parliament last Wednesday. He asked the government to release its plans to the public on how and when the lockdown will be lifted after the government extended the lockdown. He did not give any alternative as the opposition leader. As tradition demands in crisis there should be only one "voice" and I know that after this Covid19 there will be"fireworks" as usual as to what and how it should have been tackled. Let us put politics aside for now as the professor said.
Ex-president Mahama makes populist statements without thinking, yet you come out to defend him with these hollow arguments. Give us a break!
It is better Mahama shuttts upppp to give us some peace. What did he do during his dumsor days? Nothing..... We know him paaaaa. He is very greedy and incompetent but now pretending he has solution to every problem. He is a conman.....
Mahama can not confuse anybody as well. His suggestion is not logic as he was replied by SSNIT. Now SSNIT is suffering to pay peoples entitlements because, Mahama sold all SSNIT invested properties including Merchant Bank Trust Hospitals across the country. Who bought the Merchant Bank? Such a person is still appealing to Ghanaians to give him a second chance. Very big disgrace is ahead of him by eliminating who made him to JDM. You see how God works, Ghana could not investigate this Airbus issue after PROF MILLS dead. But you see where the issue resurface again. God's time is the best, PROF will definitely get his judgment before he goes to rest.
