Member of Parliament of Ningo Prampram, Sam George has come under fire for masterminding a near-violent confrontation at a meeting by Staff of Electoral Commission at a Hotel in Accra over the weekend.
The MP had secured an ex-parte injunction against the meeting in Prampram, which is within his constituency.
However, unknown to Sam George the meeting was moved to a hotel in Accra, rendering his injunction invalid.
The MP, had among other things, argued that, he took the action to protect his constituents from contracting COVID-19 since the meeting or the workshop by the EC was being held in his constituency.
According to our sources, the meeting was moved quietly to a hotel in Accra with strict enforcement of COVID-19 social distancing protocols.
This paper can confirm that, participants of the workshop did not exceed 25 and in some cases, less than 20 people participated.
Surprisingly, Sam George led nearly 100 NDC activists to the new venue, which observers believe would have led to violence without the police presence.
As a matter of fact, references have been to Mr George’s role in the violence that occurred at the infamous by-election at Ayawaso West Wuogon, which saw innocent people being maimed.
This unfortunate electoral episode has left an indelible mark on our electoral history.
For an MP, who secured an injunction to protect his people, he should have been in a jubilant mood when the meeting was moved from his constituency.
Mr George’s actions have been condemned by many who hold the view that, the huge congregation at the venue breached the social distancing protocol as many of his party activists had no facemasks and were also close to each other.
He also put the lives of the EC staff in danger as well as the security officers who were called in to restore order.
As a member of parliament, who is supposed to ensure the enforcement of laws and directives, it was sound strange that he will lead over 100 people to the new venue without observing social distancing protocols.
The Prampram MP had explained that, the EC was breaching the court order hence his decision to report the matter to the police.
However, his explanation has been rejected by some Ghanaians who believe, the location for the meeting did not breach any law as the court summons was categorical and straightforward as far as the Escape Hotel in Prampram is concerned. The EC, therefore, cannot be accused of disregarding the court process.
Monitoring of comments and opinions by this paper on social media indicates that, it was not proper for the MP to organise thugs to disrupt a legitimate work of a statutory body like the Electoral Commission and that the best he could have done was to cite the EC for contempt and not the use of crude methods to achieve a legal mission.
Meanwhile, this paper gathers that, the said meeting had been planned long ago but was put on ice following the three-week lockdown announced by the president. In effect, the EC was doing a legitimate job.

LET THIS BOY TRY IT AND SEE WHETHER HE HIMSELF CAN SURVIVE IT. NOW GHANAIANS AND THE WHOLE KNOWS WHO CAUSED THE CHAOS AT AYAWASO BY-ELECTION. LET SOMEONE IN NDC SIT THIS BOY DOWN AND POKE SOME ELDERLY TALKS INTO HIS BRAIN. GHANA IS NOT FOR NDC NEITHER NPP BUT ALL OF US THAT WAS WHY WE CHOSE DEMOCRACY. HOW OLD ARE YOU SAM-GEORGE TO ENGAGE YOURSELF IN THIS?, THE EARLIER YOU STOP AND TAKE ADVISE THE BETTER IT WILL BE FOR ALL OF US. IF WHAT WE ARE TOLD IS WHAT YOU TOLD TO COURT THEN WHAT'S THE MEANING OF SENDING PEOPLE TO A PLACE THAT DOESN'T FALL WITH YOUR CONSTITUENCY? TAKE TIME AND LEARN AND LET PATIENT, HUMILITY AND MOTHER GHANA LEAD YOU IN EVERY BIT OF YOUR THINKING AND ACTIONS AND GHANAIANS WILL BE THE SUPREME JUDGES AND NOT YOU SAM-GEORGE
This Sam George guy doesn't deserve to be an mp. He misbehaved towards his mentor ET MENSA and he labeled Sam George as a criminal. Again he masterminded the Ayawaso west by election violence and he was slapped. Madam Mensa Bonsu was surprised the way Sam George reacted towards fully armed security personnel. During NDC parliaments primary last year he misbehaved again and his regional chairman Ade cooker told the whole world that " Sam George deserved the slaps " during the Ayawaso west by election. Sam George is a danger our democracy
This thing calling him mp should think twice and those ***barred word*** less standard supporters who followed him to the place shows how weak their brain is, don't they remember what happened before
"Another disaster hit the umbrella familiy" Its a pity!! The NDC as a party has its fundemental and traditional constituition based on interdisciplinary actions and members are to respect the rules and regulations of the party. If thses regulations and rules of the umbrella familiy is not respected, there would be and there is always going to be confusion, chaos and disorder in the party. Sam George has failed to live up to the expectation of the code of ethics the party. I am calling the attention of Sam George to remember that many past NDC members have sacrificed thier lives, ideas, time and energy, as well as their financial investement laying a solid foundation for the party. Few examples of such personalities includes E.T. Mensah, Mr and Mrs Rwalings, Prof Allotey, Spio Gabrah and the rest. These ethical foundations laid by such courageous leaders of the party is gradually been eroded by the inexperinced half baked young politicians of the umbrella familiy. it raises the question, who has the right to speak and to act in any political circumstances in Ghana. Many young NDC politicians talk and act without much refections based upon the traditional constituition of the umbrella familiy. And that is the fundemental reason, why the party is gradually loosing faith with the global world and the credibility of the party is at stake with the up coming 2020 December presidentaial and parlamentary elections. My advice to the young NDC poiticians, respect and protect the traditional rules and regulations of the Umbrella Familiy and live up to the expectations of the code of ethics of the party. Learn and take advice from the past NDC Gurus that have much pratical experinces. Thank you and God bless the Umbrella Familiy!!
NDC IS DESPERATE AND CONFUSEDD. THEY RUN FROM THE COURT TO THE POLICE STATION TO THE MEDIA AND THEN TO THE CID. THEY HOPE TO JUSTIFY THEIR ACTIONS BY BEING THE FIRST TO MAKE A CASE AT THE COURT AND POLICE STATION. THEY HAVE BECOME CONFUSED IN THEIR DESPERATION AND ACT WITH EVIL INTENT WITHOUT THINKING RIGHT. IT IS REPORTED THAT THE NDC OBTAINED AN INJUNCTION TO STOP EC WORKSHOP AT PRAMPRAM. EC DID NOT CARRY OUT THE WORKSHOP AT PRAMPRAM. EC DECIDED TO HAVE A MEETING AT IN EAST LAGON. SAM GEORGE, PETER OTUKUNOR AND GODWIN GUNN LED THUGS TO STOP THE EC MEETING. THE 1ST QUESTION TO ASK IS THAT DID THE NDC ASK THE COURT TO STOP EC WORKSHOP AT PRAMPAM, FOR WHATEVER REASONS, AND ANY ACTIVITY OF EC THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY. THE 2ND IS THAT DID THE COURT PUT INJUNCTION ON EC WORKSHOP AT PRAMPRAM AND ANY OTHER ACTIVITY OF EC THROUGHOUT THE NATION. 3RD GRANTED WITHOUT ADMITTING, IF EC HAD VIOLATED THE COURT ORDER, DID NDC HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO ENFORCE COMPLIANCE TO A COURT ODER? SADLY OTUKONOR CLAIMED THEY HAD THE RIGHT TO TAKE THE LAWS INTO THEIR HANDS WHEN THE LAWS OF GHANA WERE NOT RESPECTED BY STATE INSTITUTIONS, INCLUDING THE POLICE. STRANGELY, THEY KEEP RUNNING TO POLICE STATION AND CID WITHOUT BEING APPREHENDED. WITHOUT GOING INTO THE MERIT OF THE CASE, THE PUBLIC IS INTERESTED TO KNOW IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE, WHEN WAS THE CASE FILED; WHEN WAS THE INJUNCTION ISSUE?. HOW AND WHEN WAS THE EC SERVED. AND THEN, UPON WHAT GROUNDS COULD A STATE INSTITUTION BE STOP FROM CARRYING OUT ITS CONSTITUTIONALLY MANDATED FUNCTIONS. IT LOOKS LIKE NDC HAVE BECOME UNTOUCHABLE. THEY HAVE THE LICENSE TO ASSAULT AND INSULT STATE INSTITUTIONS WITHOUT BEING REPRIMANDED. THEY RUN TO COURT TO REPORT VIOLATION OF LAW, YET THEY CANNOT WAIT FOR THE COURT JUDGEMENT AND TAKE THE LAW INTO THEIR HANDS TO VIOLATE IT THEMSELVES. THEY INSULT THE POLICE FOR NOT RESPECTING THE LAW, YET THEY RUN TO THE POLICE TO MAKE UNLAWFUL CLAIMS. IF IT HAD NOT BEEN GHANA SAM GEORGE, OTUKONOR, GODWIN GUNN ALL THEIR GANGSTERSSS WOULD HAVE BEEN BEHIND BARS BY NOW. WE MUST STOP THIS HOOLIGANISM.
Only ***barred word*** and insane people will criticized what Swhat the honorable did. In any case in whose interests is the EC working for, we have this crisis in our hands and all the government mechanisms thinks is about the next election, aren't the same people that you are putting their lives at risk going to vote for you ? Ghana voted for Akuffo Addo not jean mensah so if she believes satisfying her paymaster is the only option then she should stand well. We are going to resist any attempt by anyone to impose any president on us. No one is calling for violence but I strongly believes its comes as a result of oppression.. We will fight with the last blood in us to save the nation from the hands of wicked people. So God help us.
Kudos to Sam for serving his civil responsibility by protecting n upholding the laws of Ghana. The absurdity of EC must be brought to halt now to curtail any future unrest , anarchy n mayhem. Thumb up Sam.
Allah bless you Hon Sam George for that great move. Thanks...... Hypocrites shall die before their deaths. May Allah destroys Jean and her Conspired Cohorts. We live to See
1. What are the names of those who condemned the Mp's action in the story. 2. The hypocrisy of our media will one day lead to a revolution in this country and when it happens they will record more death. 3. Democracy is undermined when the media don't see anything wrong with government actions rather sees everything wrong with the action of the opposition.
Sad that the obvious can be twisted for perochial interest. Why couldnt they have the so called meeting in their office. What made it so essential that yiu risk the lives of your staff and hotel staff in the midst of this unseen enemy. Well time can only tell however just note that the silient majority are only watching from a distance.
