National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has issued a stern warning to opposition party members and supporters not to let the thought of interrupting the registration exercise by Electoral Commission cross their minds.
He stated emphatically that any person who will decide to cause mayhem will be met with strict resistance from the appropriate security forces.
The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced the registration exercise will commence in the middle of June this year.
The exercise is aimed at compiling a new voters' register for the 2020 general elections and subsequent Presidential and Parliamentary elections in the country.
The EC argues there is the need for a new register to replace the current one because the current register has some invalid names and therefore compiling a new voters' register will help in eliminating unqualified names to ensure credible elections.
This notwithstanding, the EC has been strongly opposed by members and leaders of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Inter-Party Resistance Against New Voters' Register (IPRAN).
They claim the EC wants to rig the 2020 elections in favour of the incumbent government.
Contributing a panel discussion on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Nana Boakye, popularly called Nana B stressed that no-one will be allowed to misbehave during the exercise.
He called on any citizen who doesn't want to register his or her name to peacefully stay home and enjoy the sight of those who will turn up in their numbers at the various registration centres.
''Registration is not by force. In fact, with voting, the law doesn't even enforce anybody to vote. You don't contravene any law if you don't vote; even though it is your civic duty. When the time comes and you feel you're not in support, you don't want to register your name again and so won't vote; nobody will begrudge you. But for you to make your mind to cause problems during the registration exercise or take the law into your hands, the security forces will deal with you drastically because the feedback we have from the security agencies is that they won't allow any person to disrupt the work of the EC...This is not compulsory. If you like, write your name. If you don't, don't write your name'', he stressed.

i smh with a lot of disbelief in how partisan one gets wih no inlet for objective reasoning. all y'all making claims as to his moronic, cowardly, hot air puffing self are living "bravely" behind a device to spew your whatever. at least he said it in the full disclosure of all, so that u and i could deliberate on it sincerely without being offensive. What he said is a fact; who doesn't know that the police especially are divided, and, the government of the day knows who supports it and set them up in the hierarchy of affairs. You can choose to ignore this for your own heartache, but until election says otherwise, we all knows our institutions are crawling to independence and not strong enough to resist a sitting government. oh, by the way the security agencies have always voted in favour of npp irrespective of whether they form the government or not in our fourth republic dispensation. You can check it; its true. That made the ndc aware that they also need to do a sit-up with their minority affiliated personnel in the security agencies. Their modus operandi was to flood the security agencies with their foot soldiers which is a failed project because the system still spits out unsuitable candidates even after passing out. Hello, if the kitchen is hot for you, get out. Enough pandering to middle to lower tier intelligentsia group who figures the only way to self worth and money making is rigging elections and staying in power for power sake.
Hahahaha this guy is a coward. You should come and stay in Accra and broaden your horizon. Bushman
keep living in ***barred word***'s paradise; use your brains not emotions.
This youth organizer is a moron. How would you sit on national radio and say anyone who doesn't want to vote can choose not to register? You think you are saying this because of NDC, but you may end up encouraging your own supporters not to go and register. Crazy fuuull! Some excuse me to say, uneducated villagers who supports npp will hear you say this and interpret it to mean it is not necessary afterall to register and stay home. Already some people are disgruntled and don't want to register so stop that nun sense.
For your information the security personnel you want to use to brutalize those who intend to resist oppressors rule also have party affiliation as well as have common sense. Much as some belong to your party others belong to the other party too. Virtually all the military and the police personal want your incompetent government out as soon as possible so they wouldn't do anything to incur the displeasure of Ghanaians. Dictators rule by fear and that is what you people want to do. Read the history of Ghana, and you appreciate that you and cohorts are virtually nothing. I remember prior to the 2016 elections cephas Arthur was chased by the demonstrators and he was on his heels. Just sit down and blow your hot air.
