The Deputy Director for International Relations of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fred Abenyo says the NDC will not need a running mate if their target of getting one was to counter Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia.
According to him Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia is just a paper Economics who is totally unable to implement or bring to reality what he teaches on paper.
He said the Vice President is just a liability to the nation who is not adding up anything to governance.
"All we see is the Senior Minister, Osafo Maafo performing the duties of the Vice President, rendering him dormant," he said.
Speaking as a panelist on UTV's 'Adekye Nsroma' newspaper discussion programme, Fred Agbenyo emphasized that the NDC would not have appointed a running mate at all if Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia was their yardstick to win the upcoming General Elections.
"The focus of the NDC towards the 2020 elections is to offer Ghanaians what they exactly want which is Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang and good government policies," he said.
He added that the country now needs a vibrant and positive manager to manage the resources of the nation.

Congratulation Prof. Nana Agyemang! For your selection as Mahama’s vice. This is a positive step. But I am honestly intrugued. Why would the NDC NEC make it a condition that whichever way President Mahama bows out, he should go with her. I thought that the tradition was that when the President’s term comes to an end, the vice steps in; as with Mills and as with Mahama. To me this is a sign that the party does not have full confidence in the woman as presidential material. And if according to the NDC the Prof is the game changer and Mahama needs the hype her to win, then, why must we vote for Mahama? Whichever way, I can't think far. BritwumWe
A time is going to come when these same propagandists of a political grouping will say if Bawumia is not made the presidential candidate then the NPP is a party of a certain tribe. One who cannot qualify as a vice president today, in their view, will all of a sudden be promoted to become president or else...Look, the NDC could not find anybody from their midst who could manage and supervise the economic transformation Bawumia is leading. They tried Kwesi Botchwey, he declined. They considered Duffour and found the corruption dirt from the banking crisis could be a problem. Now they're playing the gender card - which the NPP won't fall for. As Ursula has said, the fact that NJOA is a woman is a good one as it advances the cause of our dear women in this country (much needed.). But that's not enough. When it comes to women who have advanced the cause of other women in this country, she certainly is not one of them - the public records should be our collective source of reference. Again, NJOA maybe good in speaking English and a professor at that. She may even have arisen to become a vice-chancellor. What we're looking for here however is not to get someone to teach Ghanaians how to speak English, or that our country needs the skills of managing a university to govern it. We need someone who can manage an economy at this present moment. Currently the best pair of hands - indeed a case of primus interpares - is Dr Bawumia (because the NPP has several of these pairs of hands, unlike the NDC. Let not the NDC change the narrative, we're still talking about managing an economy not learning to speak good English!
