Political Science Lecturer, Dr Richard Amoako-Baah, is doubtful of former President John Dramani Mahama's ability to adeptly handle the affairs of this country.
Even though he has been President before, Dr Amoako-Baah opines the economy was in bad shape with continuous power outages (dumsor) under his (Mahama) tenure.
Speaking in an interaction on Neat FM, he believes a vote for the flagbearer of the NDC will be taking the country backwards.
"Yes, things didn’t go exactly how you wanted in Akufo-Addo's government; a lot of disgruntled people but that doesn’t mean you vote against the ruling party.
"Personally, I don’t agree with him (Akufo-Addo) on many things but Mahama can’t govern efficiently and it's not because of politics; he just can’t do it. Nana Addo should be allowed to continue; he’s the only one who can," the Political Science Lecturer intimated.

This election is all about our living standards. Each one will ask himself a simple questions such as, am I able to put food on the table for my family now if I couldn't do so under mahama? Has my life changed from the worst to the best since nana addo came to power? Am I living in fear because I can't express myself freely? Is there fair justice for all in Ghana as compared to former? Has the value of the cedi which was 3500 under mahama appreciate or stay same or depreciated to 6000? If all questions are answered in the negative then mahama should be voted for while nana addo is sent packing.
Is it because nana Addo could appoint 126 ministers that makes him better than Mahama? Or is it because he couldn't build even 1 of the 350 secondary school blocks he promised that makes him better than Mahama? Is it because he promised free SHS and started with only first year students which is similar to the progressive free SHS that Mahama promised? Is it because he collapsed paa kwesi Ndoum's banking business as well as other businesses that makes him better? Is it because he promised $1m dollars to every constituency, which means for 4 years every constituency should have had $4m each but never delivered that makes him better. Multiply $4 by 275 constituencies and tell me he has been able to do. In 4 years he should have given 275 constituencies 11billion dollars, this is more than the 10 billion mahama has promised for the big push, where is that money. Can you imagine how Ghana could have been developed under him, but what do we see, nothing but sakawa.
That’s what we’ve been saying all along. A bite for NDC will take us back. It’s the same way a vote for Mills eroded all the gains under Kuffour. Ghana should have moved forward faster than we have but we always allow some crop of politicians to take us back by playing the post independence card and tribalism. Meanwhile whichever party comes to power they enjoy. Let’s vote for Nana to finish 8 years before we change carefully. We’re even saying 4 years is too small for any government and people are proposing 5 or 7 years. So why can’t we add 4 years to Nana. After all NDC ruled for 8 years.
