The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, also known as General Mosquito has debunked claims that they were the masterminds behind the #Fixthecountry campaign.
A few weeks ago, a section of Ghanaians took to social media to protest over what they describe as “bad governance and the high cost of living” in a campaign dubbed #Fixthecountry.
The hashtag which trended for weeks followed an increase in prices of fuel, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
Some communicators of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) accused the NDC of sponsoring the campaign.
However, General Mosquito denies giving the conveners any form of backing.
"If we did that; NPP would have used us as the mobilizing tool; helping them in the end"
"Moreover, these are issues we've raised already and it's good individuals have taken them up and leading the fight. Joining them will change it into an NDC, NPP affair" he said in a one-on-one interview on UTV.

I would faithfully advise you never to assume that Ghanaians are not aware of what the NDC is and could over when it is in Government. The NDC as an opposition party has a huge deficit in arguing constructively to provide alternative solutions; to critical national issues. Theirs is baseless propaganda and lies fabricated to make the opponent appear bad before the electorates. Furthermore, NDC lacks the competence to formulate a policy that could be allied to its political tradition. Hence, for me, NDC is just like an electoral machine applying the wrong tools desperately to win power. I wished NDC would keep its own counsel and realized that this type of politicking based on triviality, with time, tends to be counterproductive. Then, democracy is growing remarkably fast- doing away with voting patterns based on ethnic affiliations.
I guess the npp always think what ever they did in opposition is what de ndc is doing and that is very annoying, the npp is know for destroying everything that any party does in government if is not their tradition but they always failed when they are given the mandate to govern that is exactly what we are seing now
You can say this to the marines. Then, in the end, the value is the same. I say unequivocally that, the NDC could equally instigate the protestation and fall back to avoid being touted as behind the riots for political expedience. I think General Mosquito is rather thinking aloud-exposing their strategic intent.
