Member of Parliament (MP) for Afigya Kwabre North, Collins Adomako Mensah has charged the security agencies in Ghana to be on the alert to safeguard Ghanaians against the ravages of the coup d'états happening in neighbouring countries.
Hon. Collins Adomako Mensah was worried about the anarchy going on in some African countries like Guinea Bissau, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire among others.
Burkina Faso, on Monday, experienced a coup d'état when the country’s army led by Lieutenant Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba ousted the President, Roch Kaboré and dissolved the government and the national assembly as well as closed the borders.
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), in the aftermath of a military coup, has suspended Burkina Faso making it the third member nation to be punished for a military takeover in only 18 months.
Speaking on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo'', Hon. Adomako Mensah asked the security agencies not to trivialize the insurgence in other African countries.
He said; ''I plead with the security agencies in Ghana to be on full alert. I believe, by this time, they are on full alert...I always say that the worst form of democracy is better than the best form of a coup d'état. When you look at soldiers wielding guns like in the situation at Burkina Faso and the gunshots happening, I'm not sure Ghana can contain that kind of pressure at this moment.''

It is the duty of every Ghanaian especially the priviledged and educated class to teach the masses about the ugliness and the evils of coups. As the University teachers, MPs and others use all their time and energy to fight for the increment of salaries and allowances, it is time for all in the country to reflect about what sacrifice we can make to build the nation. A coup is one of the worst disaster that can happen to a nation. It reverses any progress and it tarnishes the dignity and civilization of people who become affected. it is proclaimed in the name of the poor but it always worsens the poverty of the people it claims to help. We agree in Ghana that we are far behind in developing the nation. Coup regimes take the chunk of the years since independence. The only notable things about coup is killing and abuses of human rights which we witnessed extensively during the time of JJ Rawlings. Many of soldiers who were used to execute and sustain coup regimes became victims of its atrocities. No civilized and thinking people go the way of the coup. It serves only the family of the coup leader and not even their collaborators. it always send the best of the citizens of the nation to develop other nations other than their own. Coup is harmful to its neighboring nations. Coup in Mali, Guinea and Burkina Faso is a threat to Ghana and the nations in the sub region. Many citizens from the coup countries would become refugees in the sub-region to become economic and social burden and parasite. All in Africa must fight against the canker of coups.
You get free V8 and ex-gratia and you want the person who get nothing to use his/her life to protect you? You think say you dey wise. We're all waiting for that Coup D'état. All these guys go into politics and they're rich within 2years but teacher and nurses get nothing after their services. Both NDC and NPP are trash. We need house cleaning. Coup coup coup! Only the politicians will suffer when there's coup because we the poor citizens are already being abuse by the military, police and the judicial services.
Oyiwa, very soon you may have a v8 but cannot drive it out. You want the security agencies to protect you but you don't even treat them well. When was the last time you visited a police quarters, prison services quarters, even the military? Your shadows are hunting you.
Hahahaaaa, please don't bring Ghanaians inside this matter, you are rather afraid of your own shadow. Which job in Ghana will fetch you a V8 in 48 months where government decides to use the poor tax payers money to fund 60% of the cost of the vehicle. At the end of 48 months you still decide your own exgratia, after all you approve that of the executive and they inturn approve that of MP's, just imagine. If the military is that good at protecting people against coups, and you fear coups , why didn't you join the army, are you not a Ghanaian too? The soldiers should go and die for you to enjoy at the expense of the poor. The solution is not about any soldier protecting any Ghanaian. Solution; The youth will soon start call on the Queen of England to send us a president, ministers, MP's, MMDCEs, CEO's to manage Ghana for 8 years, then we will compare. Yes, we will soon import political personnel from Europe. We are fed up with the twin brothers, NDC/NPP . They are from the same womb. None is better than the other. Unfortunately the smaller parties have become ' spare parts for these twins. You f Ghana were your own business, will you ( politicians) do what you are doing? Will you use your capital meant to start a business to go buy a V8? So how come that you enter parliament and within a Matter of months you own a V8, no wonder majority of them can't service these cars after losing elections or leaving parliament . What has changed such that as an MP all is well, immediately you cease to be MP you can't fuel, buy new tyres and service the same V8? . You think the soldiers are not seeing all these.
Both NDC and NPP have taken Ghanaian for granted and misuse of tax payers money. I can confidently tell you that significant number of people wish for military intervention to save Ghanaians from this mockery of politicians and hardship. God help Ghana
NDC IS A SCAM REMEMBER SENCHIE ENDED UP WITH IMF. WHEN DID NDC BECAME MANAGERS OF THE ECONOMY IF THE GAVE GHANA AND GHANAIANS TO IMF TO MANAGE IT. SIGNED TAKE OR PAY POWER SECTOR AGREEMENTS, DOUBLE SALARY TAKERS, BUS BRANDING LOOTERS, WAYOMY LOOTERS, SOLD OLD 120 RAIL CARS FOR SCRAP WHICH COULD BEEN REPAIRE BY SWAME MAGAZANE FOR $50,000 DOLLARS. BRANDNEW OF THESE RAIL CARS COST 500,000 DOLLARS WHICH NPP CURRENTLY HAS FIXED 10 RAIL CARS BY SWAME MAGAZANE FOR 50,000 DOLLARS SUCH A DISPICABLE ART OF LOOT AND WASTE BY NDC ***barred word*** LOOSERS ECONOMIC MISMANAGEMENT. The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, in 1987 obtained a first class degree in economics from the University of Buckingham, the only independent university with a Royal Charter.
Mr Collins Adomako Mensah thanks for your advice to the security men and women in Ghan concerning the happenings of uprising and coups in various african countries. The reality on the ground is that many West African countries is sitting on "time bomb" and ghana is not expection. The "double standard" attitude of the Ghanaian politicians coupled with their arrogance life style, abusing the tax payers money had resulted in anger and aggressivness from the Ghanaian youth. The Ghanaian youth are politically enlightened. The few privileged Ghanaians are enriching themselves and majority of Ghanaians are living in abject poverty. There is much disappointment in the Akufo-Addo and Bawumias leadership and Ghanaians have lost confidence in this current leadership. The yet introduction of the E-Levy tax by the finance minister is been faced with fierce opposition because of the much abusive elements of tax payers money. Akufo-Addo and Bawumia needs to apologise to Ghanaians for their execessive life style which has become "Gari and Beans" at the various chop bars in the country. Things are getting out of hands. The current leadership has no any political directions and the economy is in shambles. The country is not for a single political party. And privilieged party in power cannot twist and untwist Ghanaians for their own political agenda. Things are not working in Ghana. So where is the hope for Ghanaians?? If necessary military "Intenventions". Military "interventions" are not necessary coup detats but rather to save the political and economic situation of that country. Military "Interventions" are to protect the very democratic principles been abused by arrogant politicians. Military are justfied to protect our boundaries as well as the citizens of that country from dictatorship political regimes who lack leadership and commitment to serve their felow men and women.
