The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joseph Osei-Owusu, has expressed his displeasure with claims by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Bagbin that he overturned a motion seeking to probe the government’s COVID-19 expenditure.
He described the claims as “untrue” and “unfortunate” to have come from the Speaker.
“How can I overturn a ruling?” he questioned – adding that, “the Speaker did not rule on the motion.”
He explained in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’ that at the time the Speaker was exiting the chair, an objection was raised against the motion, which required that the arguments from both sides be listened to, and a decision given, which he did in favour of those against the motion.
“I heard the argument before concluding on a decision,” he said.
"The law I used is not different from his law," he opined.
