Chief Executive Officer of State Transport Corporation (STC), Nana Akomea has urged members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to work hard and grab the Assin North seat.
James Gyakye Quayson, the current Member of Parliament for Assin North constituency is currently engulfed in a legal tussle over his dual citizenship.
Michael Ankomah-Nimfa dragged the MP to court after he was declared winner of the election. Subsequently, a Cape Coast High Court ruled that the Assin North election was invalid and that Gyakye Quayson breached provisions of the constitution regarding dual citizenship.
He filed a petition to the Supreme Court but the apex court ruled against him, asking that he stop acting as an MP.
According to some political pundits, the SC ruling has opened the way for the Electoral Commission to conduct a by-election. The NDC however, disagrees. They insist Gyakye Quayson is still an MP and that no by-election can be held until the substantive case is determined.
Even though the seat is yet to be declared vacant, Nana Akomea has asked the NPP to grab the seat because it's not the stronghold of the NDC.
"We must start working; that place is not the stronghold of the NDC and so when we get a good candidate and work hard in the constituency, we can win the seat. We have to win it," he said on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo'

Interesting, a party in power for 5 years should start work only when a bye election is due? It means NPP is taking it's members for granted. Any student who starts reading his notes when exams are due is likely to fail. The current NPP leadership both in government and party are behaving as if nothing is at stake. The very people whose toil and sweat won the party power in 2016 have been neglected and forgotten. We have appointees who do not have biological children who are 18 years and above, i.e. the qualification age to vote in Ghana, Question is; who's 18 year old is the NPP relying on to 'break the 8' ? Under president kufour, we saw a vibrant NPP for 8 years running the reason why Akuffo Addo led by 49% in the first round of the 2008 elections meaning the NPP was still the popular choice of the electorate. How come that a party in opposition with little or no resources managed to win 169 seats out of 275 and in power for 4 years the number of seats reduced to 137 ? When you were a 'nothing man' people liked you, the same people begin to disassociate themselves from you when you became rich. The reasons for this are not far fetched. Greed, arrogance, selfishness, empty pride is the lot of some NPP appointees thus the reason for it's abysmal performance in the parliamentary elections in 2020. The amazing thing is that these same appointees by their actions and inactions proves no lessons have been learnt. If they don't sit up 2024 could be worse. You do what you want in government and on 7 December we also do what we want, it's that simple. Kufour's elephant had big ears and listened a lot, the current elephant equally have big ears, unfortunately it doesn't listen, at best it will hear but won't listen. John Mahama with all his negatives seem to be more popular today than akuffo Addo, why? The very people you meet on your way up are the same people you will meet on your way down. If it was all about money, John Mahama wouldn't have lost the 2016 elections. We are watching, I pity my party the NPP in it's current state. Is this the same NPP we saw under kufour? Miles apart. Too bad
Why not go and stand yourself. You think we’re ***barred word*** to b manipulated like this?? Go and bring whoever and we’ll vote against whoever .
