Some NPP youth in the Akyem Swedru constituency has called on the Controller and Accountant General, Kwasi Kwaning Bosompem to focus on his core duty and stop eyeing the constituency seat as a retirement package.
According to them, over the last few months, Mr Kwaning Bosompem has been meddling in politics at the local level while in active service as a public official.
Among others, the youth group claims the Controller General has been seen at party functionaries enticing delegates with monetary inducements.
The last straw that broke the camel’s back, is when he was spotted at the constituency’s party delegates conference.
This among many others they believe is meant to sway their mind towards him when the party opens its nomination for the MPship slot.
Ahead of that, the NPP youth in the Akyem Swedru constituency has sent a caution notice to stay far away from the constituency and ditch any plans of contesting the Akim Swedru seat.
“A whole controller should not be meddling in politics. During the delegate's congress, we caught him meeting with the delegates and gave out GHC 200 to induce them. He intends to contest as MP but we want to tell him parliament is not a retirement package for him so he should go home and enjoy his retirement package,” the statement read.
Below is the statement
We, the Concerned Youth of NPP in the Akyem Swedru constituency, have noted with dismay, plans by the Controller General, Kwasi Kwaning Bosompem, to contest the Akyem Swedru seat.
More shocking is the fact that Mr Bosompem is in active service as a public official.
Over time, he has taken advantage of the State’s largesse at his disposal and used it for his selfish parochial interest.
We want to send a strong warning to him, that we won’t allow our conscience to be bought by the monetary inducements he has been offering some of us, delegates.
A whole Controller should not be meddling in politics. During the recent delegates Congress, we caught him meeting with the delegates and gave out 200 cedis to inducement them. He intends to contest as MP but we want to tell him parliament is not a retirement package for him so he should go home and enjoy his retirement.
By 2024, he’ll be 64 years and we, the youth of the Akyem Swedru constituency feel he will not be able to articulate our issues and better represent us in Parliament in his old age.
We reiterate our resolve not to allow Mr Bosompem to buy our conscience with money.
We wish to appeal to our hardworking President Akufo-Addo and the father of our great NPP, to call his appointee, the Controller and Accountant General, to order and leave the Akyem Swedru seat alone.
As we prepare to break the eight, we also implore our National Executives to stand firm and ensure the Controller focuses on his core duty and stop eyeing the Akyem Swedru seat.
Signed
Frank Nuamah Debrah
Leader, Concerned NPP Youth of Akyem Swedru

Mp seats in eastern region are guaranteed for npp but u are not breaking the 8. U can carry out more massacres here and there. U can make techiman chicken change but Ghana will be rescued. Typical of peace FM to remove ndc comments. The least said of this cathedral, the better. Service personnel, NABcO, school feeding, meteorological services, teachers, nurses, etc etc, this government owes them all after sooo much borrowed with nothing, absolutely nothing to show. We await 2024 patiently and this time, the army will break nothing. The massacre in techiman will not deter anyone. Ndc won the last election and will only need to keep it's eyes on the vigilantes in the army.
Someone sees the man as a threat to his ambitions so they want to discourage him. If he is a registered voter in the constituency why deny him the opportunity. His popularity will be the deciding factor. As for his age don't go there. We have MP's currently sitting in parliament who are more than 64 years old, some from the same Eastern region. Ghanaians need to be smart. If we give every MP one term in parliament, can you imagine the number of V8,s and mansions that will spring up in the constituency every 4 years? Before you realize every section of the community/ constituency will have a son or daughter with V8, decent house and fat exgratia. Today Kwesi will go, next time Kwame from another family will go, the next time round Kweku will go. Currently those who have been there since 1992/1996, can you quantity what they get every 48 months? Is MP the only work they know. If there booty in parliament no one person deserves it, if there is nothing there no one person deserves to suffer. Like agriculture, shifting cultivation should be the practice. If the poor constituencies want to move out of poverty they should adopt this practice whether NDC or NPP. In a matter of years every village will have a nice building, a brand new V8 and exgratia.
