Managing Director of Inter City STC,, Nana Akomea, has lauded President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for directing Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta to engage the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for financial support.
A statement issued and signed by Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, said; "The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has authorized Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to commence formal engagements with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), inviting the Fund to support an economic program put together by the Government of Ghana...The engagement with the IMF will seek to provide balance of payment support as part of a broader effort to quicken Ghana's build back in the face of challenges induced by the COVID-19 pandemic and, recently, the Russia-Ukraine crises."
Speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Nana Akomea argued it will take a leader of courage like President Akufo-Addo to bear the barrage of caustic criticisms against him and still stay firm to go to the IMF to rescue the economy.
"When we say you are a good leader, it also means you are flexible . . . So, he has shown great leadership regarding this IMF issue . . . for him to give the direction that we should lay aside everything and go to the IMF is a show of great leadership," he said.
He urged Ghanaians to applaud the President for his move believing the IMF bailout is one of the best ways to resolving the economic challenges.
"The President deserves every commendation for the show of leadership at this time," he asserted.

When will some us stop being jokers?
The only way I will take some of you serious is when you, the decent ones resign from the party to save your image. Rather, look at how party members are tumbling over each other to file for nomination to contest party positions. I wonder what they are coming to do. A free-for-all grabbing of state resources. Sadly, the good people whose voices can change things are refusing to vote.
Nana Akomeah, you may not know. Ghanaians including NDC members admire you a lot because you behave like a gentleman, even when jabbing your political opponents you do it with laughter. Fact is going to the IMF is nothing new. Ghanaians are surprised about the sudden U turn after the finance minister, his deputy and other NPP 'wise men ' had made statements to the effect that we have the resources and capacity and that Ghana was not going to the IMF as long as NPP remains in power. Nana Akomeah, let's agree as NPP members that Akuffo Addo has led us to disappoint Ghanaians, truth be told, NPP under Akuffo Addo and his appointees is a big disappointment. It's like Akuffo Addo has rather come to vindicate Mahama. Currently Mahama is the most popular politician in Ghana thanks to Akuffo Addo, am NPP but 'breaking the 8' is like pushing an elephant through the eye of a needle. Nana Akomeah be frank. If Ghanaians were to use the same measuring rod used to measure the NDC leading to their being booted out in 2016 to measure the NPP can the NPP pass, i doubt. The NPP may not even get the 44% John Mahama got in 2016. Am NPP but truth is one. Ghana under John Mahama was far better than Ghana under Akuffo Addo. Today if you are NPP and you know SHAME, you walk with your head down, we are a complete disappointment.
U can really defend satan. well done
