Former NPP Member of Parliament(MP) for Obuasi, Edward Enin, has lashed out at the government for their abysmal fight against the illegal mining menace.
According to him the party do not have any blue print for the fight against illegal mining and that the menace of land and water destruction will continue unabated if the President continues to look unconcern.
Speaking on Okay FM's 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, he noted that about 99 percent of government officials including MMDCEs are all involved in the illegal mining activity and are causing heavy destruction to forest reserves and water bodies.
Most of the MMDCEs in the mining communities are themselves involved in the Galamsey operations and contributing to the destruction of the lands and water bodies.
"In my opinion, that first Inter Ministerial Committee set up was wrong . . . Prof Kwabena Frimpong Boateng's son was involved in the business in Obuasi . . . some Ministers on the committee had no business there because they didn't know how the Galamsey business operated," he said, adding that, "Ghanaians know what I'm talking about . . . about 99% of MMDCEs in areas where Galamsey is done are all involved in Galamsey . . . " he lamented.
"I've gone round and taken videos of their activities . . . when I give it to my party people they don't do anything about it and now I will release those videos . . .I've told the regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah and Duker (Deputy Lands Minister) and send them videos but I've seen that I'm just doing a foolish job," he said.
He said what the NPP government is doing and saying about the menace is laughable.
"They are just joking," he added.
He said he was very happy the Birim river has overflowed and displacing the indigenes.
" . . It is good, for me I'm really happy, very very happy . . . that is where the President hails from and if this thing is going on with your DCE's involved, Ministers are involved, people at the Jubilee are involved and nobody is being sacked, nobody is being punished this will be the results and I wish the river flow affects some of their family members," he angrily blasted party officials.
"Those in charge they don't know 'foko', they don't know the operations, they don't know 'foko' . . . it is so sad," he said, adding that, "President Akufo-Addo should sit up".
He added that the largest opposition NDC is not an alternative to fight this menace when they come to power, hence the NPP have to straighten their party and fight this canker to save Ghana.

We won't relent in the fight against illegal mining - John Jinapor
The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel A Jinapor, says government is fully committed to the fight against illegal mining, popularly known as “Galamsey.”
He said despite the numerous challenges, Government will continue the fight relentlessly to bring sanity to the small scale mining industry.
He said the purpose of the visit was to encourage the military and assure them of the President and Government’s support for their operations.
Speaking to the Media after the Operation, Mr. Jinapor expressed his satisfaction with the work done by the military, led by the General Officer Commanding of the Central Command, Brigadier General Joseph Aphour.
He explained that the military have been able to clear the site of illegal miners, demolished their infrastructure, and brought their operations to a halt. He added that the team arrested some illegal miners and seized excavators and other mining equipment, which have been handed over to the Ghana Police Service.

This sickness is not just this government only, the politicians will continue to look for money for themselves and those nearer will also use that channel. Unless some part of institutions eg .Judicially, Police, EOCO are independent. Also some laws and policies are changed these things will continue .
This NPP man is frustrated and want to expose the N P P .Don’t you knew that we are ***barred word*** with sole aim of ***barred word*** Ghanas resources What do you expect NANA to do when the jubilee house is our head quarters My friend you should also find a way to steal because after looking in 2024 we are all going to run away with our stolen money
REALLY! with all the water spoilage people do not believe galamsay is there and majority of the operators are politicians.
@ Nana and Babe, you are doing plain politics with the existential threat to our country. My parents and entire family are true NPP members but I have never been angry and disappointed with our party like this before when it comes with dealing with galamsey. Nana Addo and his government should sit up and listen to people like Edward Enin. You guys should see the danger and stop talking down this important issue. It is shameful trivialising this issue.
Ennin is just bitter period. Can he show any evidence to substantiate his claim
I wS not happy when the man was being vgar but at least you've come to prove that some Ghanaians agyimi.e rough. I apologise to the man for doubting him
He is bitter because he has no position in government and he lost his seat. Allegations without any evidence! Very bitter man !
Well done, Mr Edward Enin. We need more people in the NPP to call out the poor performance of Nana Addo government regarding the Galamsey fight. It is our patriotic duty to call them out. We should documentary videos to expose them getting to 2024 elections. Enforce the law on illegal mining. Shame them for what they are. Although NDC is part of the problem and they did the same, but I am still surprised that Osafo Marfo is still walking around as advisor to the government, but he did a great damage to Galamsey fight by defending galamsey queen's deportation. Surprised that it happened in Nana Addo government - someone we trusted so much. Now it is Akonta Mining, let us see what this land minister does. He is spending billions of cedis in this galamsey fight but does not get value for money and talk bra bra - we have done this and that but no results and no one gets sacked. He is a joke. It makes me so angry that we have leaders like these.
