New Patriotic Party(NPP) Member of Parliament for Subin constituency, Eugene Boakye Antwi, has reitirated boldly that President Akufo-Addo should heed to the calls of the over 80 MPs calling for the head of Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta and Charles Adu Boahen, Minister of State at the Finance Ministry.
The Majority Caucus in Parliament on Tuesday, at a press conference addressed by Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North, Lawyer Andy Appiah Kubi, threatened to boycott Parliamentary sittings if the President does not relieve the two of their positions.
Speaking in an interview on Peace FM morning show 'Kokrokoo', Hon Boakye Antwi believed the Finance Minister "seems to be experimenting with this country and we've had enough."
"We were about forty MPs at this meeting, and Kwami a clarion call was made that our leader(Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu) should inform the President that we are done with Ken Ofori-Atta and Charles Adu Boahen and so they should resign and go . . . wherever the President goes Ken Ofori-Atta's name is mentioned . . . Ken Ofori-Atta and Charles Adu Boahen are an immediate concern," he told host of Kokrokoo', Kwami Sefa Kayi.
According to him, all of the over Eighty (80) MPs signed and it is not a rhetoric.
"If he says he won't let Ken Ofori-Atta go we are going to boycott all government business in parliament," he said.
"We have demonstrated to this country that there are genuine, honest, patriotic Ghanaians who have the country at heart . . . if he says he won't remove Ken he should add Parliament to the Execuitve and rule Ghana with Ken Ofori-Atta," he furiously said.
"We are running a democracy not a family dynasty . . . we are not backing down, why should we back down? . . . we have many competent and experience people in this party and in parliament to do the job that Ken Ofori-Atta is doing . . . if he likes we can nominate one but that is not the issue," he added.
He said the ruling NPP need to capitalize on the slim majority rule in parliament and ensure that the right is done to save the people of this coutry.
" . . On that slim majority we are operating in parlaiment we don't want any chaos, we want Nana Addo to have his peace of mind to serve his people and retire in peace, nothing short of that . . "
"If Ken Ofor-Atta dies won't there be somebody to step in as Finance Minister?" he rhetorically asked.
"There is a huge credibility deficit in his own pronuncement against the IMF, we are not joking with the future of this country, we are very serious people, we are not joking, we are running a democracy so we have to respect the voices of the people who voted for us," he added.
On whether Ken Ofori-Atta's removal will stabilize and solve the current economic crises, he said, "let's remove them or resign and see how the market will response".

I do not believe the challenges Ghana is going through should in any way be blamed on Ofori-Ata. The NDC, with its irresponsible lies and propaganda, has charged Ghana with believing so. Hence, given the intensity of the public call to sack Ken, I would only plead in light of political expediency for the president to do so, not for his performance per se as a finance minister. It is indeed rather unfortunate for some elements of the NPP to play to the gallery of the malicious NDC's propaganda to defame Ken. Then the NDC propaganda machine has always targeted the competent, hardworking NPP ministers of state. Notwithstanding, there are those NPP members who, in one way or another, bear the president a grudge and seek to settle scores with the current economic situation in Ghana because they have been denied political appointments.
I can assure you that all these 80 MPs will be retained overwhelmingly and those who could not stand to save the npp would be voted out, mark my words. Kudos to the MPs, history will get them in books with blood ink
Even when Ken Ofori Ata goes, the problem would not solve. The problem originated from Ex-gratia. Until we scrap the Ex-gratia, Ghana will not be free. The Mps are protecting their positions so that they can continue milking the country. Let's start talking about Ex-gratia now, both parties will come together to defend the payment without looking at the problem of paying it.
Is this not this same MPs who instead of going into the trenches to campaign in 2020 rather chose to ride on the good policies and fame of Nana Dee to win their seats that nearly led to the lost of the Majority of the Odonkor party?! Is it not because of their parochial interests that they would insult and stay Nana Dee in the back with this indestructible attitude! When Ghana suffered Dumsor and economic hardships under Odwanfunu did you ever hear their MPs demanding the removal of their finance Minister?! All these MPs will not stand for 2024. I can assure you that patriots will work took and nail to remove them! Don’t they read?! Haven’t they learned their lessons from 2008?! Why give the scariest incompetent NDC tools for 2024! Aren’t they grateful for all that Nana Dee is doing to ensure Ghanaians endure this economic hardship!
I give the 80 MP's a standing ovation. They should stand up and save the NPP from extinction. People have laboured all the way from 1992 to today to build the NPP only for some group of inward looking, greedy, selfish, self centered, full of empty pride people who represents nobody but themselves. For once i have a lot of respect for these majority MP's. The future of the NPP and their political career largely depends on whether they will stand their grounds or recoil. They should save the little image left in the NPP . The reconstruction of the NPP will have to start all over again after the exit of Akuffo Addo. For now all the efforts/ sacrifices kufour made is almost been pulled down by Akuffo Addo and his appointees. You just can't believe this is same Akuffo Addo that was running round the country begging to be tried. Mahama will be laughing loud now. The NDC is indeed having a field day. You go to a whole constituency and you can't point to one NPP supporter who is 'laughing ' including their chairman. If chairman himself is not seeing top what about the ordinary supporters. Kufour was skillful in moving party and government together, Akuffo Addo doesn't even know how to move one not to talk of moving two at the same time. All the sacrifices of NPP supporters have come to not. Rather unfortunate . NPP paaaa nie. Oh.
Is this guy an MP? If the expected revenue from E-levy didn't come because of your behavior in parliament, what do you expect the Fin. Minister to do?
Ghana under the current government is not practicing democracy, we only have civilian rule. In my opinion I am not sure if Ghana have been practicing democracy at all. The president doesn’t give a damn about what the masses are saying. In fact Ghanaians can go to hell for all he cares. To some extent he must have his reasons, why are people talking about the finance minister? What about Bawumia? the so called called economic wizard and saviour, is he not superintendenting the economic affairs of the country? Why is he into hiding?
The failure of our system is mostly due to these things ,people are placed in government sectors not for productivity or efficiency. They are put there for being financiers or family relationship .There must be policies to guide this country .
FINALLY OUR DEMOCRACY IS HEADING SOMEWHERE POSITIVE
Too little too late.
