Editor-in-Chief of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr. has revived the calls for the dismissal of Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.
Over 90 members of the Majority Caucus in Parliament have reportedly signed a petition to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to remove his Finance Minister and the Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, Charles Adu Boahen.
The Members of Parliament threatened to boycott the presentation of the 2023 Budget and all government business which willl be laid before the Legislative House if the President refuses to sack the two appointees.
Nonetheless, Mr. Ofori-Atta remains at post as the President, in an emergency meeting with aggrieved MPs, asked them to allow the Finance Minister to conclude the IMF deal.
Contributing to Peace FM's morning show "Kokrokoo", Kwesi Pratt called on the Finance Minister to do the needful.
"I wish Ken Ofori-Atta had resigned . . . I wish he wouldn't wait for the President to tell him to leave before he does," he emphasized.

If i were Ken Ofori Atta I would have been out of office by the end of the year. If a new finance minister is appointed and by the end of 2023 we don't see any positive change, it will then be obvious that he is/ was not to blame for the current crisis, for now it's like majority of Ghanaians don't have confidence in him. Unfortunately Ken has become a household name in Ghana for the wrong reasons. In the PNDC era, then finance minister Dr. Kwesi Botchway's name was synonymous with fuel price increases. Anytime he was reading the budget and says " now fuel" we saw our parents running to hear what he will say. At times change is good, it can vindicate the former. Maintaining the finance minister will give the impression he has something to hide. Akuffo Addo should listen. He should ease the pressure on him by listening to public opinion and acting accordingly. We voted for you to pass, don't fail. You can pass ,
That will not happen, do not blame Ken for all that is happening to Ghana. The President is the cause of all this. He does not listen to advice. This government wants to use the private sector for industrialization. Our sector does not have the funds for bigger projects. One oil field in Ghana is flaring gas every day and they have advised gov to build another gas plant, but they are adamant. No wonder they are not helping TOR to run. They want easy way out. Private start and personally they have their cut.
