A former National Security Advisor to the late President John Evans Atta Mills, Brigadier-General (Rtd) Joseph Nunoo-Mensah, has narrated how he reached out to President Akufo-Addo to help him with his experience and give him ideas on how to come out of the current economic challenges but was obstructed.
"I know President Akufo-Addo more than any other politician, I was his campaign Manager in 1998. You said you won't call me so I decided to reach out to him myself but he says he doesn't have the time, what should I do again?
" . . experience is the best teacher and based on our knowledge of the past we knew this would happen so I decided to go to the President. I went with a friend and approached Kwame Mpiani and he called Gabby on the phone to give us access to speak to the President. One week later we didn't hear from anyone . . . I was really sad because we were not going to beg the President for anything . . . I offered myself," he lamented adding that "our politics is ugly".

Deep Reflection! I am beginning to understand that the Paying of tithes is just like E-levy, every new hand (receiver) is expected to pay something (smh). The church and the government of Ghana is the same. They are all scammers, or something is not being done right. This is the reason why the government is not able to control the churches and the leaders of churches are also afraid and/or fail to speak up about the government. They are all doing the same exact things. Let's all speak truth to power. What about if we decide to have religious representation in parliament? What about if the government institute an entity that would audit churches? The mega corporate churches in Ghana (all know their names and don’t force me to mention any church) are the biggest culprit of the spiral depreciation value of our once strong cedi. Trust you me, almost all these churches have a foreign account (predominantly, dollar, pound, Euros). The same offerings and tithes are used as a weapon to devalue our currency because these collections in cedi values from churches are changed into the hard currencies. Is the government not aware of these? Passing of a bill or amending parts of our constitutions and backed by stringent penalties will help in diversifying power in more hands and strengthening our institutions. I believe none of these bodies (churches and the government) would be afraid to discharge its core constitutionally mandated duties without fear or favor. Guess what? A true and pure checks and balances would be injected into our social, political, religious, and economic landscape. I hope someone will listen to this. God save our Nation. God save our country. God heal our land.
General i don't get you. If you have any advice for the president to ease the suffering of Ghanaians and you were prevented from accessing him as you allege, what prevents you from offering your advice in public, tell us what you wanted to tell him, Mahama did not insist on meeting the president, he offered his advice and suggestions through a public lecture, Alban Bagbin now speaker of parliament also complained some time ago that some people were preventing him from having access to then president Mahama so he also decided to offer his advice in public, also do same, we are waiting to measure the panacea you have to Ghana's current predicament. I believe your wife also goes to the same market like any other so we are in the mess together.
There he goes again. Attention-seeking old chap. Thank goodness you were prevented if indeed you are to be believed. Were you not a commander who sold out your fellow officers during the June 4th uprising? A single command call from you would have stopped the junior soldiers who were led by jerry Rawlings. Whilst the worthy general Neville Odartey Wellington was fighting to dea+h to restore order, the +raitor that Brigadier ( Yes not Gen.) Nunoo Mensah was in Cahoots to deprive his fellow officers of the needed support to preserve this country's constitution. Besides this, granted the country is in economic hardship like many countries in the world, when did you sell out man become an economist? Many retired army officers go into security consultancy of some sort what have you done? Thank goodness you were indeed prevented from seeing the president. Stay home and looks after your grand kids.
This man is not serious. Helping Nana Addo in what? Security and how do you think NDC man will be given that job Npp government? That will be suicidal.
I heard you say if the country is hot you can leave. What advice could you not have given the then government to make things easier?
