I don't claim to know any reason for him deciding to stay on but the behavior scientist in me tells me that it's the best thing to happen to Ghana with his stance. There is a concept called reinforcement. Simply, given a reaction following a particular event, the same event will be maintained or increase in its occurrence in the future. That is all that reinforcement is about. The opposite of that is punishment. Any event that happens less or doesn't get a reaction expected from its occurrence is said to have received punishment. By refusing to fire him, or him refusing to resign as demanded, the president and the finance minister have punished the behavior of people asking for the head of leadership during hard times and provided no reinforcement for serial agitation behavior of people. This is good for stability in governance during tough times, a plus for great organizational behavior management.
Yes it does not make logical sense for someone to be holding on to such position without any remuneration except he is doing so to save his professional image. if he is not taking any salary then we have to interrogate if there are other indirect benefits he gets for holding on to the post. Or is he covering something up for himself or for someone. Whatever it is there is nothing hiding under the sun forever. Everything we do will eventually come to light.
