The General Secretary of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has been heard in a leaked audio recording alleging that the party didn't have concrete evidence during their election 2020 petition to the Supreme Court.
The election petition saw the NDC accusing the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) of rigging the elections and challenged the current administration on the legitimacy of the election results.
They prayed the court to overturn the Electoral Commission's declaration of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as winner of the elections.
In a viral tape recording purportedly containing the voice of Mr. Asiedu Nketia, affectionately called 'General Mosquito', and in seemingly a closed-door meeting between him and some NDC members, the General Secretary could be heard accusing the Chairman of the party, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, of doing a shoddy work regarding the election petition.
According to him, the Chairman supposedly sabotaged the NDC's efforts to collate their pink sheets to prove their case.
He recounted that the Chairman gathered some University researchers to work on the collation of the election results but presented a bad report that if he (Asiedu Nketia) had taken those findings to court, he would have ended up being utterly disgraced.
He stated emphatically that he denied having the results when he stood in the dock during cross-examination at the Supreme Court because the NDC had no evidence to back their claims.
In fact, even the party's lawyer, Tsatsu Tsikata refused to defend the NDC because of the lack of concrete evidence, Mr. Asiedu Nketia revealed.
"When we were doing the collation, the system you (Chairman Ofosu Ampofo) brought saying it is robust and strong, when we collated five Regions; we are told it has crashed. This is the truth. So, when we decided to go to court, we agreed to do manual collation. So, we gathered some people to collect the pink sheets and our Chairman sat on the Collation Committee that he will handle the collation. He went for some University people who did some shoddy work. When the time was up for me to stand in the dock, the results that they gave me if I use it to defend the case, I will be disgraced so we couldn't send those results to the court.
"They then said we should go to lawyer Tsikata. So we carried all the documents and presented them to lawyer Tsikata. These are things we shouldn't be saying publicly. When we gave them to him and in the next morning, after he had perused them, he replied us saying take back your grasscutter. If these are the things you are sending to the court, go and look for your lawyer because I can't do this work. This is why when we went to court and they said where are my results, I replied that I didn't bring any results. I believe you heard that; I don't know how to lie. I am saying if I become the Chairman, all this nonsense will not happen," General Mosquito said in the audio recording.
Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia is currently vying for the Chairmanship seat in the NDC.
He aims to defeat Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, the incumbent Chairman in the party's delegates elections scheduled on Saturday, December 17, 2022.

Asiedu Nketiah stated that ‘any ***barred word*** can go to court’ The NDC and John Mahama fully epitomized this statement by going to court without any credible evidence.., yes indeed any ***barred word*** can abuse the system and go to court.
Mahama likes power and it is no secret. He can kill for power. Trace his history of dubious contracts and it is easy to draw your conclusions. No conscience.
So why did you deceive your followers by going to court? NDC, NEVER AGAIN!
So the EC Chair and the Supreme Court Justices were vilified without basis. How can you trust such people. I am so disappointed with Former President Mahama. He knew all this and was all over the place attacking the Supreme Court Judges. His credibility is questionable
