The National Democratic Congress (NDC) was able to raise GH¢1.083 million to support the organisation of its 10th National Delegates Congress, former President John Dramani Mahama has said.
Addressing the 10th National Delegates Congress of the NDC at the Accra Sports Stadium today, he said the money was raised through Mobile Money contributions in 12 days with GH¢10.
"This is a demonstration of the love that Ghanaians in general and members of the NDC have for the party and for a worthy cause we embarked on", he said.
Mr Mahama expressed appreciation to those who donated and those who wished to remain unanimous.
He thanked those who also provided non-monetary gifts such as packs of water.
Former President Mahama said six years of reckless and irresponsible management of the economy has rendered Ghanaians broken and struggling to survive.
"Akufo-Addo and Bawumia government has supervised the worst economic conditions in several decades and brought to Ghanaians hardship", he stated.
He however asked Ghanaians not be despair and that the country would rise to a new dawn.
The NDC National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, said party unity was non-negotiable and that informed the team of the congress " Rallying for victory 2024! Ghana's hope".
We need to be united even in the diversity in which we find ourselves", he said.
The outgoing General Secretary, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia said the NDC has made a lot of progress over the last four and that he was optimistic about the party winning the next elections in 2024.
"But we cannot win the 2024 general elections with a divided front.

Yet they make noise that the country is hard! What a vision less party!
See oooo, in opposition everyone counts. In government it's only those who are given appointments who count. Don't be surprised to learn that some of those who will get appointments as MMDCE's, deputy ministers, minsters and CEO's have not contributed one pesewa towards this congress. When the party wins power these are the category of appointees who grow rubber horns and throwing their empty weight about displaying arrogance and disrespecting the very people whose sacrifices and toil brought the party to power. The soon forget who and what they were a few years ago especially the young ones some of whom begin to get what they never thought of getting in their whole life. Politics is about numbers, not degrees or certificates. With all your so called degrees if you die your death certificate becomes the most sought after document. Appointees must learn to accommodate all manner of party supporters who come to them, if you can't solve their problems at least speak kindly to them because you will need them tomorrow. Human beings are more important than money, power or influence. Only 7 years ago the NDC was in power, today if you see some of the their former appointees they don't look like people who have occupied political office before, not that they didn't also harvest the goodies when they were in office but they pushed away all those whose toil brought the party to power to enable them grab more. Hot water doesn't quech taste, no it can't. When projects come before your table you swerve party faithful because you know you were together in the gutters so you can't sell the projects to them. You know look for people who were not even members of the party and sell these projects to them, you alone deserve to be rich, you alone deserve a mansion after leaving office, you alone deserve a V8, nice clothing, you alone deserve a good life after leaving office, the other party members should remain as they were when the party was in opposition, you lie, you will come back to square one as if you have never seen one cedi before because the people contributing GHC 10.00 today will curse you when you neglect them. These applies to all the political parties not NDC alone. You may think you have made a lot of money in government. God will bring you a problem three times all that you have amassed. We are watching
