Nana Ohene-Ntow, a former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said that Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia must step aside in the flagbearership race of the party for the 2024 elections.
According to him, Bawumia cannot be the presidential candidate of the NPP because he has blood on his hands regarding the current state of the Ghanaian economy.
He added that most Ghanaians even blame the vice president more than President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the happenings in the economy, and his plans to contest might not augur well for the party.
“… when people complain about the economy under our government now, they talk much less about our President Akufo-Addo and they talk much more about the vice president… a lot of the bashing that people have had against our current government in terms of the economy has been directed at the vice president.
“There are a lot of criticisms (against the vice president). If you go and put the same face on your ballot paper and you ask the people, the majority of whom are complaining about this person then it means that you are forcing the people that whether they like it or not they should vote,” he said in a JoyNews interview on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, which was monitored by GhanaWeb.
He suggested that Dr. Bawumia should step out of the upcoming presidential primaries and explore his presidential ambitions for elections other than the 2024 elections.
Ohene-Ntow added that unlike the former Minister for Trades and Industry, Alan Kyerematen, who has stated his intention of contesting in the NPP presidential primaries, Bawumia has age on his side and can contest in presidential elections later than the 2024 elections.

The f00ling has started, these characters will prefer to see NPP go into opposition than see Bawumiah become a president
When Ohene ntow was given position in NPP , he used his wife to destroy bungalow allocated him and same o person want to sell same character to us .It will never work. Delegates ignore Ohene Ntow candidate and vote massively for DMB
Team Allan has given up even before the fight. Cowardly talk. It’s either Bawumia or forgerit!
Why is Nana Ohene Ntow afraid of competition?
With his poor reasoning and argumentation, this guy has lost ground and credibility. Kyeremanten bears equal responsibility for the difficulties that Akufo-Addo's administration is facing. Alan candidly does not distance himself from the current difficult situation under the Akufo-Addo regime. The pandemic and the Ukraine war are indeed challenges afflicting the whole world, but not Ghana alone. I think Alan is best advised to bring his supporters to order in terms of not falling prey to the propaganda the opponents are spewing against the government. Be mindful that if you irresponsibly eat all your eggs, you are killing your chickens as well, so to speak. A word to the wise is enough.
Is this guy still alive,so poisonous and bitter,God really disgraced/shamed him for his hate against Nana Addo…the likes of Arthur Kennedy,Nyaho Tamakloe,Wereko Brobbey,Richard Anane,Sammy Crabbe,Afoko,Agyapong are all struggling due to their evil motives…BAWUMIA is our next president.
Has Nana Ohene Ntow suddenly discovered a voice? Where was he when Bawumia was in the witness box defending the NPP? Has the race been reduced to who has age on his side? Is it necessarily that the elderly must come first before the younger one in leadership? Then in that case Alan should also step aside for the likes of Akoto Afriyie and Co, who are older than Alan. Times have changed. In spite of the current economic circumstances, Ghanaians still have confidence in Bawumia's ability to turn around the economic fortune of the country. We believe he has given the best advise to government to keep our economy afloat. But the final authority chose to do otherwise. Can Alan exonerate himself from the so-called mess in an administration he played a key role for the last 6 years? Come again Ohene Ntow!
It's Nana Ntow still relevant in NPP? He is one of the recalcitrant Allen Kyeremanteng supporters who doesn't want to change his mentality over the period. Times have changed and the Party must present a seasoned and futuristic personality in the like of Bawumia. He is a perfect representation of an ideal politician in Ghanaian politics today. The current economic situation may be attributable to a general downtown of the world economic order. Except you want to play mischief and propaganda with it. I just wonder when I hear NPP people blaming Bawumia and Ofori Atta for the current economic hardships. Its sheer envy !!!!
Then NPP as a party should contest the 2024 elections. Please if you are afraid of Bawumia come out and say it.
