The reasons why I think Mahama is trying to ***barred word*** Ghanaians are that; 1. He is the only person that has taken more ex gratia than any Ghanaian and still looking for more. 2. He is the only president that abused the ex gratia by grabbing the state’s Vice Presidential villa as part of his package in 2016. If the new government wasn’t a different party, he would have taken it. 3. He just took his ex gratia last month and he will still take it next month. He is not ready to stop taking until he becomes president in 2025. What will he secretly take from us in exchange for the ex gratia when we vote for him? 4. He secretly went back for his 10 percent salary cut he announced to support the economy during his presidency. 5. The ex gratia as it stands now can only be reviewed by Ghanaians through voting and cannot be scrapped by the power of any president as he is trying to say.
@Patrick, do you know that Mahama is still receiving it? If he thinks it’s not good, then he should stop collecting it. There is no need to wait till he is voted to be president again. The lies here is that he said he will cancel the one meant for the executives but he doesn’t have the power to do that. Ghanaians are not that ***barred word***.
Did he said that? those who gave it to him will obviously vote him again so he continue to talk gibberish knowing and receive again.
JDM underscores the need for ex-gratia when he states that as president he is barred from holding any office for profits. Is he therefore implying that in future presidents be allowed to work for profits? Search your conscience, JDM!
I am surprised why all of you are lambasting John Mahama. And what is the logic in what Martin Kpebu said. Until recently, I though Martin Kpebu was an objective person, but I have noticed in recent times that he is just a bitter person. He may be right on some of the issues he has raised his voice on, but sometimes I feel he has a hidden motive. I support Mahama 100% to cancel the ex-gratia, but I do not support the call for him to refund what he has already taken. Why not call on all living ex-presidents to refund theirs? Ex-gratia is in the constitution and whoever is entitled to it should be paid. Now if we have found out that the ex-gratia is a huge financial drain on our economy, and Mahama says he would initiate steps to cancel it, why are people insulting him and casting doubt on his credibility? Just as Mahama mentioned, why are Ghanaians not demand fees they have paid in the past during secondary school, now that we have free SHS. Ghanaians must know and understand that the correction to any "wrong" thing must start from somewhere. When Mahama cancelled Nursing and Teacher Training allowances, NPP did politics with it. In any case, Teacher Training Colleges (now College of Education) are have now been elevated to tertiary status. So the BIG question is; WHY should a student at the College of Education be given allowance whereas the student at UEW or UCC, also pursuing a program in education be denied allowance but asked to apply for a student loan and pay later? Does this policy or directive promote fairness? And when they came to power, they decided to restore it and mentioned that as an achievement. Ghanaians who care should investigate to find out what the intakes are into these colleges. The ruling government has significantly reduced the admission numbers because it knows shoulder the burden of paying huge sums of money to the large number of trainees in the training colleges. So, since 2017/2018 academic year, admission to these colleges is highly competitive because they are taking very limited number. Hypocrisy by Ghanaians is what is killing us. We fail to analyze issues well to know the merits and demerits, but always put on our political lenses when discussing issues affecting us as citizens.
Did he really said this? You think the common Ghanaian tax payer is a ***barred word*** for their “peasant” monies to pay for your ex-gratia you have expended, and you turn around to tell that same person “ I have learned my lesson after chopping your money” so no more ex-gratia? You are wise to enjoy and yet someone is ***barred word*** to not enjoy? Wow! This guy!
This guy looks not credible at all. He must not even contest this election. He has no conscience, wherever he says and portray are out of character
Hmmm Onyakopon mma y3n abotr3 paaaa
Why receive something your conscience tells you it is not appropriate? After enjoying it for 30 years as an Assemblyman, MP, deputy minister, minister, vice president and as a president. Your pronouncement on the Ex-gratia is populist approach and political, just to create hatred for the current government. Your office is covered by the article 71, please close it and also tell the NDC MP's in parliament to promise us they are not going to receive their Ex-gratia when the current parliament ends in December 2024. We are waiting for you put forward your programs and policies that will surpass the current government so that we actually see the NDC as the real alternative. I will review this, I will scrap that is not a policy and programs.
