Former President John Dramani Mahama, who is also the Presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has assured Ghanaians that their suffering under the current NPP administration will soon come to an end.
He has urged citizens to remain calm and consider voting for the NDC in the upcoming 2024 elections as a means to alleviate their hardships.
Addressing an audience at the 44th anniversary of the June 4th uprising in Hohoe, former President Mahama empathized with Ghanaians, acknowledging their struggle under the current government.
He stated that corruption, economic hardships, and insensitivity towards the people's plight would be a thing of the past if the NDC is elected to power.
"We are responsible for organizing and letting our message of hope reach everyone across the length and breadth of our land," stated former President Mahama.
"The dark days will last only for a moment more, and a new dawn is lurking on the horizon.
"And when that new dawn breaks, the governmental rot, the economic hardships, the insensitivity to the plight of the people, and the offensive corruption and waste of the people’s resources will be a thing of the past," rainbowradioonline.com quoted him as saying.
Former President Mahama urged the Ghanaian people not to be misled by "hollow sloganeering" and "shallow populism" propagated by those who had made their lives difficult for years.
He further urged citizens not to be swayed into voting for the ruling NPP in the 2024 elections but rather to choose the NDC for a brighter future.
"Do not allow them to confuse you that you must vote for them in 2024," he warned.
John Mahama previously served as President of Ghana from 2012 to 2016 before losing to Akufo-Addo in the 2016 presidential election.
He unsuccessfully ran against Akufo-Addo again in the 2020 election.
He has been re-elected as the flagbearer of the NDC and has expressed confidence that he can win in 2024 and bring about the changes he believes the country needs.

Waa hwe! Has team Mahama got any campaign strategies. How could Mahama win an election against any of the leading Npp candidates by making himself look like an anti corruption candidate. Ghanaians witnessed how deep his government was in corruption. Why haven’t Mahama got an inspiring message. We witnessed how Akuffu Addo stuck to his free boarding school and did it when he got the chance. Why he succeeded for the IMF deal to go through without it affecting the free boarding school is a miracle that will be discussed many years to come.
Corrupt man.... F.uc.k off. Empty talk without telling us how you will stop corruption. You have benefitted from corruption throughout your political life.
President Mahama is not a seasoned campaigner despite being in politics for decades.President Mahama is not a natural gifted politician.President Mahama should tell the people of Ghana what he will do to reduce the economic burden we are having in this moment. Most of the voters who didn’t vote for Mahama in two elections witnessed the rampant corruption and mismanagement. What does President Mahama stand for. He should leave the complains for the serial callers and rather give us some solutions for the problems in our dear country.
Corruption and hardship will be a thing of the past in only 4 years of your administration? This man thinks Ghanaians can’t reason.
“Corruption and hardship will be things of the past”. Indeed! Mahama believes Ghanaians have short memories. Mahama can blow his chance despite the economic difficulties if he doesn’t take Ghanaians seriously. Mahama has got a tough task to persuade the moderate Npp voters and a large section of the floating voters so his advisers should start advising him to give us some tangible and concrete policies to address our teething problems. The majority of voters who voted against him twice are going to vote in 2024. Maybe the Ndc should have listened to the EIC proposal to change Mahama to enhance their chances of winning.
''And when that new dawn breaks, the governmental rot, the economic hardships, the insensitivity to the plight of the people, and the offensive corruption and waste of the people’s resources will be a thing of the past," create, loot and share, greedy bastard, payment of gargantuan judgement debts, I am not a magician to create jobs, family and friends government, Free SHS is not possible, incompetent economic management, dumsor, a walking insult president and many more were endured by Ghanaians during your presidency. JDM, I do not suffer from short memory.
Mr Mahama you are more corrupt than corruption itself.
The forest was shrinking but the trees kept voting for the AXE, for the AXE was clever and convinced the trees that because his handle was made of wood, he was one of them. In opposition political party leadership and their supporters think alike. It is only when they win power you will know the way you were thinking is not the same way they were thinking.

This Mahama guy is now just irritating. How can you just say corruption will be a thing of the past without mentioning one thing you will do? Just empty talk, and you expect Ghanaians to buy that and vote for you? What do you take Ghanaians for? We want to hear ideas that are reasonable and workable, not empty talk.
