The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Director of IT, Eric Ntori has confessed the recently held Assin Norty by-election "didn't go well" for the party.
James Gyakye Quayson was declared winner of the by-election by the Electoral Commission (EC), Tuesday evening.
He garnered 17,245 of the total valid votes cast representing 57.56% beating his close contender from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Charles Opoku who had 12,630 votes representing 42.15 percent.
Speaking to Joy News, he said: "…It didn’t go well for us but it doesn’t matter that we lost it all…we’ll go back to the drawing board; prepare again and come back in 2024 and make sure we can snatch the seat again".
SC of Assin North has spoken
Meanwhile, the National Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) George Opare Addo has hailed the constituents of Assin North for proving that "they still prefer Gyakye Quayson"
“We have comfortably won the election. The Supreme Court of Assin North has spoken to the Supreme Court of Ghana that they still prefer Gyakye Quayson as their Member of Parliament,” he told Joy News.

@Dan, what an insightful message you have put up! The majority of the people of Ghana haven’t got the appetite for another Mahama’s administration that was the reason why they voted again for the president. Indeed! The npp supporters did not come out fully in their numbers to vote and the voters for both parties have shown that they might choose to stay home and allow the other party to win if they are not happy with the party they vote for. I’m a npp supporter and as Dan has rightly stated the npp has scored an own goal and Ghanaians might vote for Mahama to come back to power to prove to the political class that the real power is in the hands of the people even though Mahama has proven that he is not competent enough to run the country.
Hmmmm, for things to go down well with you, you need to change your ways of doing things. This government has shot itself in the foot on several fronts. When people speak you won't listen. The election results of Assin north should tell you that the NDC is more than prepared for election 2024 and the earlier you sit up the better. For the NPP to lose 2, 000 votes in this election compared to the 2020 figure is a message from the people that they are not happy with the actions and inactions of the NPP government. Times have changed and you need to wake up to this reality. The people of Ghana don't owe any politician, it is rather the politians who owe the good people of Ghana. Most of the the projects the NPP commissioned in Assin north couldn't have been started and completed within a space of one month. This were projects started much earlier before the by election and yet the NPP performed abysmally in this election. That should tell you that there is more to human welfare than development projects. You may be a minister, MMDCE or CEO but it's possible you don't have your own biological child who is 18 years and above i.e. the required age to qualify to vote in Ghana. That poor man and woman you see sweating in the scorching sun has his or her own children who are 18 years and above so when they speak listen to them because they hold the keys to your political ambitions. To those political appointees who's children are not up to the required age to vote, who's children are you relying on to 'break the 8'? Just ask yourself this simple question. The people of Assin north have sent a clear message that human beings are more important than money, power and influence so learn to respect people for you never know when you will need them. If it were about power and money the NPP would have won the election hands down, unfortunately for them elections are about human beings which they have failed to realize. Some of the young appointees of the Akuffo Addo government are full of themselves, empty pride is their lot. They should use the Assin north fiasco to make amends if not they will be the bane of the party's presidential candidate in the 2024 elections. Leaders by themselves don't easily fail, it is the appointees that fail them. If not, how can a whole government machinery descend on a small constituency like Assin north including incumbency advantage and yet failed to click. There is definitely something wrong somewhere.
What an unnecessary comment. The people of Assin north has proven again that they want Gyekye. Period. There is nothing to gain by saying that the Supreme Court of Assin north unless you believe that you can tease and bastardised the Supreme Court. This comment is a contempt of court statement and I hope this time the Supreme Court should not accept any apology. These people should be dealt with for the sake of our democracy.
