Ace Hiplife artiste, Michael Elliot Kwabena Okyere Darko, aka Obrafour has revealed that he dreamt of becoming a legal practitioner in Ghana someday while growing up.

The rap ‘sofo’ who was a guest on Personality Profile on Joy FM’s Drive Time on Thursday said he decided to take up that career after admiring his grandfather who was a Lawyer.

“Growing up, I decided to take after my grandfather who was a Lawyer…,’ he revealed on the show. Since emerging on the Ghanaian music scene in 1999/2000, Obrafour has been a toast of fans of the music genre after coming up with several hit songs.

His songs also won several awards at various musical awards and events making several persons regard him as one of the pioneers of the hiplife genre in Ghana. All these accolades, he said, were not attained on a silver platter especially as he had to start from a humble beginning in rural Ghana.

Obrafour revealed that he lost his father at a tender age and his hope of pursuing his childhood dream of becoming a learned man in Ghana one day hit the rocks when in 1995, his mother also passed on.
The passing away of his mother, he claimed was his biggest blow since the lady whom he had named in several of his songs was ‘my greatest inspiration’.

This blow truncated his education at Abetifi in the Eastern Region.
The man who claimed he started singing from his mother’s womb said he took after his SDA mother who incessantly sang several SDA tunes as she carried on with her household chores.

The love for music, he recounted, made him form musical group at the High School level which always sang gospel tunes at school.
The man accredited with commencing rap music in Ghana, Reggie Rockstone who was called into the programme also recounted his experiences with the ‘humble and wise’ executioner.

He said he raised Obrafour’s hand on stage at a concert in 2000 because he believed in the abilities of the Obrafour.
