Actor Robert Nana Koduah says he has been denied a lot of acting and advertising opportunities after he ‘campaigned’ for former president John Dramani Mahama in a series of adverts prior to the 2016 general elections.
His chain of commercials at the time introduced popular and funny slogans like ‘Edey beee k3k3’ and ‘No abaabas3’, which urged Ghanaians not to go back for the NPP, which was then in opposition.
In an interview with 3news.com‘s Owusu Worae, the actor laments life has been difficult for him after shooting the advertisement.
“It was very hectic, calls here and there, messages threatening you and a whole lot…I lost a lot of friends and loved ones.”
He said brands and companies no longer want to use him for their commercials because of his endorsement in the advert, a situation he says is unfair to him and other actors and celebrities who go through similar situations. “You know, the likes of Jay Z, Rihanna and what have you do endorse presidential aspirants in the United States. So why is it wrong in Ghana here? When an actor or musician endorses a figure, it becomes something.” “Because of what I did, I have really lost a lot of gigs. It is too much, why will you not use me because I did an advert for a particular party when you know this guy is good for your product.”
Asked if he is open to shooting any more political commercials, Nana Koduah said as a professional, he will not turn down an offer to do what he loves to do best.
The actor shot a number of adverts for brands like Kasapreko, Tigo and a few others in the past, but he says business has been slow since his endorsement of the former president, who eventually lost the 2016 elections.

Ah Koduah, are you not a man? Don't you have shoulders? Planting for food and job is booming and you are sitting in Accra wanting to be a celebrity. Come on go to your village and chase the fat rats some. Layzi man.
Fundamental Illiterate! What has the NPP got to do with this? If private fear losing customers or prospective customers because someone openly engaged in politics, what has the President got to do with it. I beg, SHS is now free, enroll quick and stop displaying ignorance on a national platform.
And who care about you not getting job to do. Now the free honey has stopped dropping into your b1g mouth. Cry more 111diot.
I lost respect for Abeku santana, Dumelo, Misbell etc, when i see them on political platform, you guys are entertainers n educators, what are you looking for on political platforms, even the celebrities that campaign for NPP i dont listen or watch their music or movies anymore. for Dumelo i now look at him from political angle now so i give him his respect back. My brother what i will tell you is relax and look for new way to brand yourself, like bandana now shatta wale, i strongly believe with that you can make it n take politics out. when they bring themself chop their money but dont show your face on TV anymore. i feel sorry for you. stay bless.
THIS GUY WANTS PUBLICITY
Massa what job were you doing? If you want your name to be heard tell us and stop the politics. Which law firm or Accounting firm do you belong to? Which professional work worth the sort do you associate yourself with? Which advertising company do you own and that has been denied recognition.? You are not even a star. Just had the opportunity to advertise for NDC who also do not matter now.Just shut your mouth and find some Town hall platform to entertain at that level. As for i don't even know you
IF NOT THE VINDICTIVE POSTURE OF NANA AND THE NPP WHY SHOULD IT BE SO IN A DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY LIKE GHANA?????
This is an open advice to those of you in the entertainment profession who align yourselves with political parties(more so the NDC) and later find yourselves unemployed. The major business men in Ghana have a long memory and will never ever forget what was done to them or their relatives/parents during the PNDC days and also when PNDC metamorphosed into NDC. Stop thinking only about the money you will make from those adverts but rather think of growing your career for years to come. The American entertainers that you used as an example are extremely careful about what they say in an advert as well as how they say it because they are aware of how it might affect their long term career. You are young so refocus your energies in a more positive direction. Disappointments, disasters and failures are all part of the tapestry of life. Good luck.
The truth is Ndc is a wrong party to be associated with. Majority of Ghanaians don't like that party despite the noise they make. Their antecedents were those who lined up prominent Ghanaians and shot them, they stripped naked, noble Ghanaian women and whipped them in public, 247 of our compatriots vanished without trace, and this is the party we are talking about. Those who campaigned for Npp since 2001 are still doing so well in their careers. Next time watch before you leap.
It's all about how you do it.you guys say painful things about the other opponent that's so indelible.one Said he cannot trust Nana addo with his daughter,a man who himself is a Father to some children.so when it's time to reap insults, take it in Good faith.I won't associate with a person when said free sad is impossible and sakawa.now see oo.
