Ivorian national, Simplice De Gondo, a top seed in the West African country, emerged the winner of the DiscoveryTel Open Chess Championships, held at the Media Center of the Accra Sports Stadium.
De Gondo, made a perfect score of seven points out of seven games and was closely followed by Ghana�s top seed Edward Thompson with six points whilst Thomas Saah of Liberia and Mr. Lionel Adu of Ghana shared the 3rd place with 5 points each.
In the ladies version, Angela Ayiku won the first position with Christine Ashley and Dorcas Allotey placing second and third respectively.
The two day championship which was under the sponsorship of DiscoveryTel Ghana Limited, saw participants from Jamaica, La Cote d�Ivoire, Liberia and Togo.
It also saw the participation of veteran Chess players across the country.
Group Captain George Arko-Dadzie, expressed appreciation to Discoverytel Ghana for their support and assured them further collaboration to develop and promote the game.
