The newly-built Cape Coast Sports Stadium by the Mahama-led administration will be commissioned soon.
The 15, 000 capacity edifice is part of Ghana’s ambition to expand sports and develop infrastructure across the country.
Handled by Chinese construction firm, IPPR International Engineering Corporation, following a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ghanaian and the Chinese governments, the project started in 2012 and its completion is set to increase the number of standard government stadia in the country.
Addressing Parliament during the 2016 State of the Nation presentation – President John Dramani Mahama noted that his government has “completed drawings and bills of quantity for a new stadium.”
He assured that, the new stadium will be commissioned by him very soon.
The stadium complex has a 22-room hostel facility, a canteen, kitchen, fire-fighting room, storage rooms among others.
President Mahama also promised a new boxing gym and sports complex at Bukom this year to help unearth talent for international titles.
