Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey is on the verge of making history after qualifying to the finals of the UEFA Champions League with Atlético Madrid.
Partey played a part to help his side eliminate Bayern München on the away goal rule after drawing 2-2 on aggregate with the German giants.
Atlético Madrid advanced to the finals despite losing 2-1 to Bayern München at the Allianz-Arena after securing a narrow 1-0 win in the first leg match in Spain last week.
Xabi Alonso and Robert Lewandowski were on target for the home team with Antoine Griezmann getting the consolation for the visitors.
The Ghanaian midfielder came on to replace Griezmann in the 82ndminute and stabilized the midfield for his side.
The 21-year-old could be the sixth Ghanaian to win the European competition should he clinch the trophy with his side.
He thus joins the likes of Abedi Pele, Mohammed Tanko, Sammy Kuffour, Sulley Muntari and Michael Essien as the only Ghanaian to play in the finals of the Champions League.
