Ghana's sports minister Nii Lante Vanderpuye claims Kwadwo Asamoah's absence is a contributory factor to the Black Stars recent struggles.
Asamaoh, who plays for Italian giants Juventus, has been battling injuries the last two years and that has kept him away from the national team.
The talented midfielder has not played for Ghana since featuring at the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals in Brazil.
Asamoah returned to injury but head coach Avram Grant has been unsuccessful in dragging back into the team.
The Black Stars have been unimpressive in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers after picking up just one point in two matches.
Vanderpuye, a former sports journalist with the state-owned Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, thinks the return of Asamoah will make the team stronger.
''With the return of Kwadwo Asamoah and Asamoah Gyan in the next match. I think the absence of Kwadwo Asamoah is one of the reasons why we having the difficulties. He's a game changer, he's been magnificent in all our World Cup qualifying matches,'' he told Viasat TV.
''Him coming back into the team, let's pray injury does not any of our regular stars, we should be able to qualify to the World Cup.''

Listen to him as if he is making sense. Minister do little. Nii lantey , u talk too much.
Why should Kwadwo Asamoah leave Juventus and come to play for the Black Stars? At the moment - with his age, he risks losing his place in the team if he comes to play for Ghana all the time. Secondly, for the many times he came to play for Ghana, he was used in left back. He complained about it but no one listened. Ghanaians will prefer to use Atsu and Jordan Ayew up front rather than Kwadwo Asamoah in the front. It was no coincidence Ghana did so well in South African 2010. We had Kwadwo Asamoah and KP Boateng in offensive midfield. With those two players and Andre Ayew and Stephen Appiah, Ghana was effective in build ups. Sulley could contribute. The team was good. But all of a sudden, Christian Atsu and Jordan Ayew from NOWHERE came to join the team. They became preferred strikers. Kwadwo Asamaoah was a defender. That is where he lost interest. Once he lost interest and with no Stephen Appiah in the team, the forward line collapsed. The sacking of KP Boateng and Muntari created a hollow midfield. Here we are. Terrible midfield, no goalscorers. Ghanaian football could go down for 10 years.
You don't need him at all. He has not featured for Ghana for a while. There are lots of other athletes out there on the local front that wants to make it so use them and stop using foreign base so you take bribe from them. Shame on you ***barred word*** minister who does not know his left from right
It is you the sports minister and not any player. You talk too much and have never impact anything to all the sporting disciplines in the country as you were then making noise as if you 're going to transform our sports. We rather see a retrogression so stop telling us anything.
