‘An Economist should not be a talkative’
Let the kite perch and let the egret perch too, and if one says no to the other, let his wings break– Chinua Achebe
Dear Dr Bawumia, how are you today? How is your family? How is your faith in Allah the Merciful and Compassionate? I will not bother to ask you how things are with your new office, because I have a fair idea.
I am proudly Ghanaian. My concern about our beloved nation will just not let me sleep.
The internet tells me everything I need to know, and so too the televisions, newspapers and radios. That is how I got to know, against all speculation, about your promises to Ghanaians.
Your alleged demon of corruption underfoot the NDC that you promised to eradicate is still waiting if indeed it does exist.
I have always said the society sets certain standards by which people are measured by and it is the conviction of every Ghanaian that if the nation cannot bequeath anything to Ghanaians at all, it must at least bequeath to them, a leader with a high sense of morality, uprightness and humility.
I believe by now you would put to an end to the impression that you created with the tactics of portraying to the world that Ghana’s economy was in an intensive care unit of an economic hospital.
Mr. Vice President, I may want to find out from you that should Mr. Amissah- Arthur ask you a one Million questions about Ghana’s economy, would you ‘waste’ your precious time to answer like you expected from him in the past?
Although you knew your predecessor’s pedigree when it comes to fiscal discipline in managing our economy, you gave him no breathing space.
Out of some form of envy, you portrayed Ghana in the safer hands of the chief pilot, the intellectually equipped and experienced economic surgeon Kwesi Amissah –Arthur, an unfriendly destination to the business community.
As an economist who doubles as Vice President, I am sure by now you know that the seat needs a levelheaded person to steer the affairs of the country.
As the head of the government’s economic management team, the seat seems to be is hotter than that of the President, so you need to learn to measure your public utterances.
Integrity, I know is earned and not conferred. There is a saying that ‘no matter how many push-ups the lizard does, it can never be as big as a crocodile’.
I respectfully want you to also know that beyond charisma, connections and political leverage that you are said to have brought on board to the NPP, your predecessor had all that and key fundamental elements such as truth, trust, loyalty and complementary skills.
Amissah -Arthur brought that on board and he proved himself as a humble leader.
Talk of experience and qualification; you can never count him out. He is a seasoned politician. The greatest among his amiable qualities is his humbleness and meekness.
This man is indeed a mentor of all who wish to attain greatness. So there was no need for him to fall to your tricks.
In ascension to power, Vice President Kwesi Amissah - Arthur proved to Ghanaians that politics could be played without rivalry and enmity. He exercised this by responding to critics in an educative manner not through insults.
Vice President Amissah-Arthur provided the needed pivot and respect for the nation's forward march under him and his team.
Instead of the lies told about the NDC administration, the time has come for you to tell the world that the past government deserves commendation for its indefatigable effort to turn the fortunes of the economy around.
Some just like Amissah-Arthur succeed and deliver on policies without making noise and make sure that the machinery of government moves in the right direction, in order not to lose focus instead of being a talkative.
Former vice president Amissah-Arthur completely redefined the Presidency and changed the perception of people towards it.
He took time to interact and open up to anyone irrespective of gender, age, religious and ethnic inclination, a move that has earned him respect across Ghana, Africa and the world.

NDC will be in opposition for along time.
***barred word*** Talk Paa. After destroying the economic foudation for eight solid yrs, you want someone who has been in office for one and half months to fix it right away. ***barred word***.... even if you grow palntatin or cassava how many months does it take to mature. Mode3 mennhunu sede3 mosi dwene koraa NDC.
my dear stop wasting our ears. This poor management of the economy under JM is one of the shameful and inhumane ever seen in Ghana. Thanks to your wasteful government. Ndc is a shame and disgrace to mother Ghana and never again in the history of this nation, we will allow such corrupt, incompetent government to rule us. As for the likes of your surgeon- amissah arthur, generation will come to weep of his mismanagement of the economy
When Bawumia and Amissah-Arthur were put on the same platform to talk about the economy, Amissah-Arthur did not appear to be the economic surgeon you portray him to be. In fact, my O Level economics would have been a better option than your guru. I am afraid, you lack any credibility just like your idol.
Pls do something better with your time and stop this ***barred word*** you are writing. Do you think we are all blind as NDC followers? I hope the party called NDC will never again come to power and rule Mother Ghana.
Just bullshit, guess this guy was sleeping during NDC Reign.
Well, Dr. Bawumia campaigned and used his eloquent speeches to convince Ghanaians to vote NPP to power. That is the right thing to do as a politician who stand and value theideologies of this party. I really congratulate him as an economic prophet as his affactionaly Called by Kwamina Doncan. The campaign season is over and it will be a waste of time comparing his abilities with the former vice president. What we need now as a nation is action and not comparison. Ghanaians are looking for the the leadership of the sitting president to deliver to meet the demand of the average people in the country. Dr. Bawumia, I want to see your prophesies come true as you have already been named an economic prophet. The northerners are also waiting to see what you have for them. I wish you all the best! good luck.
Am surprised about who ever sat down to think of all these without referring to the economy when Mr Amissah was at the finance ministry, as the governor of the bank of Ghana and as the vice president leadership of the economic management team where Ghana found herself in terms of the economy. As we speak now what was the growth rate when they were leaving office? With oil production and at what rate they took from the NPP. If they are proud of their economic achievement then we are sorry. He was vice president for four years, therefore, he should wait and compare his disgraceful achievement with that of Dr. Bawumia in four years time. As to their credentials nobody will Mr. Amissah about Dr. Bawumia. Ghana is yet to give birth to that of Dr. Bawumia again. Check your records of economic achievements both marcro and micro economics, the earlier we stop talking about it the better. Dr. Bawumia did not punched holes to your economic policies and mismanagement, but rather gave predictions and directions at which the economy was heading under your leadership. All what he predicted came to passed and all what Ghanaians needed at that time was your response to the challenged. If I were you, I will not further disgrace myself to challenge someone who has just spent few weeks in office that you spent four years to achieve what you failed to do. Until you are able to answer those 170 outstanding questions posed on you, nobody will take you serious in this country again when it comes to economics.
hahahahahahaha. funniest article. How ironic. Was this guy living on Jupiter? I can't stop laughing so hard. herrhhh. What a waste of space.
Economic Surgeon? Mr Amissah Arthur? Please give me a break! This on-looker who watched on for Ghana's economy to run into a ditch? Hardly does he know Economics beyond JSS level.
