The Ghana Education Service (GES) says its self-placement module was sabotaged by “bad” people resulting in the chaos with the 2019 senior high school (SHS) placement.
According to the Deputy Director General in charge of Quality and Access at the GES, Mr Kwabena Tandoh, it was for that reason that the module was temporally closed down.
His comments comes in the wake of complaints by some parents and their wards that they had been wrongly placed by the Computerised School Selection Placement System (CSSPS) for Senior High Schools (SHS).
Reiterating the point that the students were placed on merit and in accordance with the choice of school, Mr Tandoh said the system was intact.
“We need to understand that we are living in a world now where there are a lot of really people with very bad intention and so people with really bad intention are trying to do whatever they can to sabotage our system.”
“We have put a lot in place to ensure that the sabotage won’t happen. And so as soon as we detected that there is the likelihood that something is happening, the best thing to do to protect the integrity of the system we needed to shut the system down and see where there are possibilities of sabotage, correct it and put it out there.”
“This is not new as though the system is not good because if the system was not good then we wouldn’t have been able to detect it,” he said.
Meanwhile, some parents and their wards who went to the Mfantsipim School in Cape Coast on Sunday were left stranded because their names were not on the school’s list.

When they fail, they then turn to point fingers at others for their misfortune. If this exercise had gone on smoothly, would they say what they are now telling us? it seems Ghanaian big men don't learn, instead of improving on the system we rather retrogressing. At this time we shouldn't be hearing some of these things. our leaders don't plan and it seems nothing is being done about it and no one is being punished for it. Those in charge should be sacked and even jailed if possible. with elections around the corner, can one imagine what would happen if the EC system is hacked like this? God have mercy
If there was any form sabotage, heads must roll period
IF A NATIONAL EXERCISE LIKE THIS HAS BEEN SABOTAGED, IS THAT ALL WHAT YOU CAN TELL US? THE CULPRIT OR CULPRITS MUST BY NOW BE PUT BEHIND BARS IN ANY SERIOUS JURISDICTION. WHEN AT ALL WILL THIS COUNTRY EVER GET IT RIGHT? CAN'T ICT EXPERTS INVESTIGATE AND FIND THOSE INVOLVED TO BE PUNISHED SEVERELY? CRY MOTHER GHANA CRY.
Don't bring yourself, is the duty of the opposition to criticise. A lot happened in JM's time and all we heard was fix it. Instead of fixing it they are looking for whom to blame. If NDC can hack into NPP's systems then NPP is a ***barred word*** party to say the least. Good leaders accept blame and find solution to it but no this super incompetenttttt government, are always looking for whom to blame. Gosh
It is a shame. If you allow decentralization to work you will not see this crowd. You want to bypass every system. Now you want to solve all education problems in Accra. Any teacher who has a problem is asked to go and sort it out on his/her own at the controller and accountant generals department. Why then are you creating the regions if everybody should be trouping to Accra. Help Ghanaians small by letting the systems work
By their fruits, they shall be exposed. That's why yaanom have started criticizing the Computer placement on radio. They know what they have done and let's hack into it and turn around to say as they have been talking about improving the system. They lie bad, Ghanaians will benefit from the free SHC, insha Allah
Napo you can't take cover please. No excuses. We are in the 21 century and still toying with basic things like education. I hear one pupil even committed suicide and you are here taking cover. Ayekoo Napo
