Theresa May vowed to fight Donald Trump if he goes ahead with his election campaign pledge to ban Muslims from entering the US.
She said she would 'ensure the dignity of our citizens' in response to questions from MPs demanding she stands up to the President-elect over his controversial immigration policy.
But Mrs May's response was branded 'shameful' by shadow home secretary Diane Abbott, who accused the Prime Minister of failing to condemn Mr Trump.
There are doubts over whether the Republican President-elect will follow through on his pledge to ban Muslims from entering the US after the policy temporarily disappeared from his campaign website. It reappeared shortly afterwards .
The then outsider for the Republican nomination shocked the world in December last year when he called for a 'total and complete shutdown' to Muslim immigration to the US.
Mrs May, then the home secretary, described Mr Trump's plan as 'plain wrong,' while Boris Johnson branded him 'unfit' to be President.
At Prime Minister's Questions today in the Commons, SNP MP Tommy Shepherd demanded she stands up to Mr Trump to 'respect the dignity of all of our citizens, irrespective of their race and religion'.
The Prime Minister responded: 'The special relationship we have with the United States is very important – I think for both the United States and the United Kingdom.
'We will be continuing to build on that special relationship – that was very clear with the conversations I had with President-elect Trump shortly after his election as President-elect.
'But we of course want to ensure the dignitary of our citizens. It is up to the United States what rules they put into place in terms of entry across their borders. But we will be ensuring that special relationship continues – and continues in the interests of both the UK and the US.'

So in this world for some reason, every law should be upheld but immigration laws should be bent and ignored when people break them. Who on this planet will welcome someone into their home when they came uninvited and broke through the window to enter the house and then they decide to stay long term, pay no rent, not contribute to any of the bills and yet pick food from your fridge without your permission daily and you can't sack them from your house either because they refuse to leave because of all your freebies. However, if they came through the front door and informed the homeowner that they were coming to stay with the family for next 5 years and would like to have a copy of the house keys made available to them to move freely to and from the house and contribute to rent and bills to maintain the family and home. Who would have an issue with that? An illegal immigrant(undocumented immigrant- authorities don't even know their names and where they are from) is not the same as a legal immigration( an immigration who is background checked and pass fees to be recognized as part of the larger general community and pays taxes and shares in the wealth of the community overall). The illegal immigrants have broken the law just as drunk drivers are fined with Driving Under the Influence (DUI) or shoplifters are charged for taking stuff from a shop without paying for it first are also punished for their actions. Therefore the law will NEED to deal with their action just as any other law deals with the actions of people who break them just as the law states when it was written over 100 years ago. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THAT!!!
