Family of the late President of the Republic, Prof. John Evans Atta Mills has threatened to exhume the body of the late former President for reburial if the state refuses to honour the up keep of the 'Asomdwe Park', where he was buried.
According to them, they cannot continue to bear the responsibility of keeping the burial site of the former statesman.
Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, family Head, Siisi Crentsil explained that the 'Asomdwe Park' where the former statesman was buried has become a subject of ridicule for the family and the state.
Koku Anyidoho's Cry
The culture of maintenance has remained a major challenge in safeguarding state properties in the country and 'Asomdwe Park' where late President Professor John Evans Atta Mills was buried 6 years ago is no exception to this culture.
The President of the Republic of Ghana died while in office and the place he was buried has nothing good to report about as the 'Asomdwe Park' is bushy and a habitat for many animals.
Discussing how the 6 years memorial service for the late President will be observed, the Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho who served the late President directly bemoaned the state of the 'Asomdwe Park', where his former boss was buried.
He described the place as an eyesore, as the 'Asomdwe Park' which is the responsibility of the government to keep it clean and neat has been abandoned and left in the care of wild animals.
“We will hire people to tidy up the Asomdwe Park if the government gives the park to me, but for as long as it remains the property of the State, let the State take up its responsibility. That is all I can say but I am very sad this morning,” he bemoaned.

we have better things to do with our money. If u want to corpse, why did u put it in Accra?
take his body to your hometown. We do not pay taxes for such a ***barred word*** thing.
Let us simplify this thing. I think Atta-Mills nad a son. Tell him to go and tidy up the place in memory of his father who sent him abroad for education and all the good things of life. We all tidy up the graves of our mothers and fathers as a sign of respect and dignity. I think this son of Atta-Mills has been too docile for my liking. He should assert himself as the true son of his father and make him proud in his grave.
Partisanship is blinding the comments here. In every country there is either a common presidential or in some cases a military cemetery devoted for such dignatories. And even in the US there are several memorial parks devoted to late Presidents. It is unfortunate the State is not doing this for a former President who died whilst in office. For others their time will come. If no action is taken the Mills family should call off the bluff of the Government and work with us to set up a trustee to keep the place and even build a mausoleum there for him where we can keep his writings and works etc. That can then be used for a tourist attraction and the fees used to keep and maintain the place
Government need money to buy hospitals, ambulance and build more school for free SHS, therefore government will not waste tax payers money on unproductive area like asomedwe park, wait still former President John mahama dies then you bury him also there. the remaining grave you dug is waiting for you
This man called Koku Anyidoho, I just don't understand him, must we politicize everything? 6 years ago NDC was in power till 2016, what did u do about it? When will Ghana politicians grow up and stop politicizing everything?
look at this ple again. every year when they are broke and needed some money then they start to make noise so that those that kill mills will come and give them something. why dont u tell us all what killed mills. in fact if i know what killed him, i will personally take care of the place. the state doesn't have to do everything. some of us are still bitter with u ple for not seeking justice for ur kinsman instead u took monies to shut ur mouths up. now u want who to go and take care of the place? not my tax money. I love mills but i will not support the govt taking responsibility of the place since we dont know what killed him. in fact, ask his killers to do it or better still go ahead and exhume the body. whom are u threatening? n0ns3ns3
What kind of rubbish is going on in Ghana these days? Why should be the state responsibility to clean or weed around the Asomdwe park.Let me tell Ghanaians, in every country across the world when a person die, is the duty of the state to give the person a state burial unless otherwise. Since the dead person has a family it is the duty for the family to keep the burial/monument place clean if they really care about the dead person. In America nobody go to the buried site after the state burial either than the family members during memorial days or any form of visit. If they really planing to exhume the body;than my advise to them is that the should rather use the money to clean the place instead. It's time to stop these ***barred word*** politics.
I don't understand something here is NDC or the family non of them can divot them selves to voluntary tide up the place? this shouldn't be tax payers money. oh mother Ghana can we do something without politics. I pay visit to my parent grave every mothers and fathers day and clean the place why cant they do that? if they claim he means a lot to them.
what a disgrace for Ghanaians. Yes i agree with the family
