On the 7th of January, 2017, the fifth President of the 4th Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, was sworn in.
Akufo-Addo sought to stand out from all other past leaders, calling on Ghanaians to be involved in the running of the country — famously calling on us to be ‘citizens, not spectators’.
One person trying his hardest to adhere to being a citizen and not a spectator is musician A Plus, who points out wrongdoing wherever he sees it, whether in his own adopted party or not.
However, his advocacy has often landed him in trouble with a couple of NPP appointees suing him for his fiery attacks on them.
A Plus has posted on social media addressing the President and asking him why his attempts to be a citizen and not a spectator is landing him in trouble with the NPP.
Check out his post below…
"I know you have no doubt in your mind that I am your number one fan. I believe in you and trust your judgement. At your inauguration in 2017, you asked that we be citizens and not spectators. Just about 18 months into your presidency, some of your appointee take citizens to court seeking an injunction to preventing us from asking basic questions. In other words some of your appointees are asking us to be spectators contrary to your request.
Now that you are asking us to follow our President, please, in all humility, can you kindly tell us how you want us to follow our President? Should we just shut up and follow or we can ask questions, critisize, share our opinion and demand our right to free speech and administrative justice? I know what you stand for. I'm not asking this because I don't know what your answer will be. I honestly know and believe that you may not agree with what your opponents or some supporters say about you, however you will defend to death their right to free speech. I just want you to remind your appointees.... With love... Kwame"

Being a spectator does not include defaming people and spewing unfounded allegations. Free speech ends where someone's freedom begins.
Being a citizen and not a spectator does not require you to smear people with unfounded allegations. It is also within their human rights to seek redress in courts to redeem their reputations that they believed have been dragged in the mud. As a citizen, you are expected to respect and adhere to the constitution of the land. Those that you smear with allegations of wrong doing are also performing their duties as citizens and not spectators by seeking refuge in the laws of the land. A PLUSS, go and prove your allegations in court for it is part of the constitutional processes.
***barred word***. YOU CAN PUT A SENTENCE RIGHT AND YOU TALK ANYHOW. YOU CAN UNFOLLOW HIM AND CONTINUE IN YOUR FOLLY. CHECK THIS! (Just about 18 months into your presidency, some of your appointee take citizens to court seeking an injunction to preventing us from asking basic questions.)
Eddiekay, You say all. Defend yourself in court Masa
Master, if you know you are a good citizen and have your facts, just meet them at court, finito. Kwame, no wahala in this, thanks.
Ghana need responsible citizens not people who just opened their mouths anyhow without thinking about the consequences of their allegations. You want to destroy someone's reputation by calling someone's wife name's, just go to court for your evidence that is the name of the game.
The President meant to say we should be responsible citizens and not attack personalities when you don't have evidence but mere speculation. Trust me if I were in their shoes, I will haul you before court and even encourage all members of my family to individually sue you as well.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!! See this guy, u made unfounded allegation in the name of been a citizen....Stop gathering public sympathy with ure fake plea just go yo court and prove ure case.. THATS ALL!!!
A-plus, learn the difference between criticizing and propaganda
Masa you did not criticize, you called somebody a ***barred word*** go to court and prof that and stop wasting our time
